We're delighted to be welcoming Sam Mills back to the shop to hear her discuss her non-fiction book, UNEVEN: Nine Lives That Redefined Bisexuality. About the book: UNEVEN tells the stories of nine pioneering bisexual artists, writers and musicians that will change our understanding of the world's largest sexual minority. Bisexuality is often seen as something temporary, in spite of increasing openness around it: a sign of immaturity or a waystation on the road to a different sexuality altogether, rather than its own distinct entity. In this beautifully written cultural history, Sam Mills reclaims bisexuality as its own identity, interweaving her experience of being bisexual with illuminating portraits of a clutch of artists, writers and musicians, including Colette, Bessie Smith, Marlene Dietrich, Anaïs Nin, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Madonna. Celebrating the resilience, diversity and spirit of the bisexual community through the ages, Uneven explores how each of these trailblazing figures have been misunderstood; how social attitudes affected their sexuality, their relationships and their work; how LGBTQ+ identities have been portrayed from the Victorian era to the present day; and how attitudes have progressed. Illuminating, personal and entertaining, Uneven paints a nuanced portrait of a sidelined community. About the author: SAM MILLS is the author of The Quiddity of Will Self and The Watermark, along with three young adult novels, including the award-winning Blackout. Her memoir about being a carer, The Fragments of My Father, was published in 2020. Sam has written for a number of publications, including the Guardian, Independent, 3 AM and London Magazine. The Bridge of Sighs (Oxford University, UK) is officially called Hertford Bridge, a famous attraction of Oxford University, the Bridge of Sighs was built in 1913 (completed in 1914), it crosses the New College Road to connect the old and new parts of Hertford College, is a famous attraction of Oxford University, Designed by Sir Thomas Jackson (Sir TomasJackson), this bridge is called the sigh bridge in Venice, Italy. After the tour group came to Oxford, I was only able to take a look.

The Bodori Library of Oxford University is the general library of Oxford University. It is one of the oldest libraries in Europe (opened in 1602) and the second largest library in the UK after the British Library. It is one of the six statutory libraries in the UK. All Oxford publications will be automatically sent to this collection when published. There are many branches under the library, of which Radcliffe Camera branch has become an important landmark of Oxford University. There are many books stored here. Students who are not Oxford University can also visit. The Hakatori Library consists of a group of buildings of different historical periods and different styles, and is said to have underground channels between the buildings.

For a few pounds you can climb to the top of the tower and enjoy the 360-degree view of Oxford, the beautiful long strips and the southern city. The church porch was built for four or five hundred years and its spiral columns are a major innovation in British architectural history.
