A Dating Event For People Who Are Tired Of Dating
Dating Is Hard. We Want to Change That.
We’re eliminating online matches you never meet in person, dead-end first dates, and boring small talk.
If you want to make real connections, this is the event for you.
How it Works:
Secure your spot at the event by selecting the gender and age
you
associate with.
Check your confirmation email for a link to set up your speed dating account. On this account, you will answer a few simple questions to ensure we find you the most compatible people in the room.
Show up to the event and let the matchmaking magic happen
While tickets for this event are sold by age range, we recognize that age is only one factor in determining potential compatibility. If we believe there is a strong potential match for you outside your identified age range, we may still try to facilitate that connection.
Our goal is to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all attendees, and we hope that everyone will approach this event with an open heart and an open mind.
It is important to note that we do not discriminate based on age or sex, and all attendees are welcome at this event.
If you would be interested in a speed dating event for other age groups and/or gender identities, please fill out our survey here:

Read Cards Like a Surrealist: A Tarot Exploration With Laetitia Barbier | Philosophical Research Society
May 31, 2025 (UTC-7)ENDED
City of Los Angeles
Read Cards Like a Surrealist: A Practical and Creative Tarot Exploration With Laetitia Barbier
In the PRS Library!
Welcome to the Surrealist Tarot Parlor! A new Tarot class with Laetitia Barbier exploring the surrealist gaze, image-making and legacy applied to contemporary Tarot practice. The surrealist Tarot parlor is a cozy, experimental laboratory, a place of poetic foreplay in which we’ll be able to informally indulge in magical iconographical explorations, through games and artful activities.
From its early beginning in the 1920s, the Surrealist movement championed artistic exploration through methods such as free association, automatic writing and exquisite corpses - collective drawing or texts made without knowing the others’ contribution. Inspired by Psychoanalysis, the surrealists used playfulness, group exercises and the quest for liminal states to subvert their own predictability and free themselves from the constraints of the rational mind. Surprise, accident, and reveries brought to the surface the inarticulate visions of the subconscious and unlocked the doors of creation.
In the same way, Tarot as an intuitive and introspective practice forces us to reconcile with our own imagination, to contemplate what’s hidden within us, and use it as
materia prima
to reinvent our own narrative. In this class, we’ll behave like Surrealism resurrectionists, unearthing the avant-garde group’s creative methodology, unapologetically applying it to Tarot tradition and seeing what chance encounters we reveal. After engaging in tarot practice, students will be invited to create their own tarot card using collage and surrealist creative techniques.

Breakfree Intervention skills training | Los Angeles 2025 | Breathe Life Healing Center Weho Clinic
May 1, 2025 (UTC-7)ENDED
City of Los Angeles
Breakfree Intervention skills training equips students to understand intervention history and gain valuable insight through classroom education and case studies, how invitational intervention works in the field. The learning lab experience educates attendees through method review, role-play, and other action practices. Breakfree Intervention is the trauma-informed intervention standard today and is designed to meet multiple skill levels while advancing each participant’s knowledge base.
Conducted by noted author, teacher and interventionist Brad Lamm, Certified Intervention Professional (CIP), BreakFree Intervention skills training equips participants to understand the history and methods of various addiction intervention models as compared to Brad Lamm’s proprietary invitation to change process, which pairs a loving family-infused intervention with a long-term family recovery curriculum.
This model is set alongside Kathleen Murphy’s action-method approach to trauma-informed treatment. Through education, case studies, and role-play-rich training, participants learn how to intervene using this cutting-edge approach to initiating Family Recovery.
Special thanks to this year's presenting sponsor, Carrara Treatment Wellness & Spa, and to our event collaborator, Lightning Step.

Philippe Garrel's THE INNER SCAR (1972) starring Nico – Rare Screening! | Philosophical Research Society
May 2, 2025 (UTC-7)ENDED
City of Los Angeles
"
Personally, I find this film a masterpiece. A total masterpiece. I can't explain it…
Suddenly, it's mankind, the whole earth that speaks – the earth in the ancient
sense of mother. But it is not even the earth that speaks, it is the humus…
It's incredible: everything is there.
"
-
Henri Langlois,
Écrits de cinéma
The Philosophical Research Society's 7th House Screenings is proud to present a rare screening of Philippe Garrel's mythic, long difficult to see surrealist masterpiece
THE INNER SCAR
(
La cicatrice intérieure,
1972), its first LA screening in nearly a decade. Starring legendary doom folk icon Nico (Garrel’s decade-long partner and muse) and featuring songs from her classic album
Desertshore
(its cover photo is a still from the film), Garrel casts a dreamlike spell in what is a wholly singular cinematic trip – one that, in its sheer visual mysticism, sits beside the likes of
The Holy Mountain
and
The Color of Pomegranates
.
Pierre Clementi and Garrel himself co-star alongside the striking one-time Velvet Underground chanteuse and her young son Ari – their mysterious figures traversing (in often seemingly impossible tracking shots) the barren, otherworldly landscapes filmed in Death Valley, the Sinai Desert, and Iceland. Enigmatic, alluring, and existential, Garrell described the film as a record of what was going through his mind at the time and advised “one mustn’t ask yourself questions while watching…it should be watched for pleasure, as one can take pleasure from walking in the desert."
An ethereal and hypnotic marvel of acid drip slow cinema that demands to be seen on the big screen!
Dir. Philippe Garrel, 1972, 60mins, France, French & German w/ English Subtitles, Unrated (ADULT AUDIENCES ONLY), Digital.
Special thanks to Philippe Garrel,
Pip Chodorov and Diana Vidrascu of RE:VOIR, and
Bernardo Rondeau.
