••• UPDATE - January 31, 2025 •••
Join us for the 5th Annual #CapHouseFest Salutes Sam "The Man" Burns!
Come show the love that Sam "The Man" Burns shared with so many. Our Official Summer Opener is kicking off World Pride & Black Pride 2025 with a stellar line up featuring World music and soulful House grooves!
We lost our friend, partner and headliner Sam "The Man" Burns on March 7th, 2020. We have and continue work directly with his family, the estate and the Samuel Andre Burns Legacy Foundation to support Sam's visions and love, and to spread "Disco's Revenge" in his name.
The Capital House Music Festival - World Music Event officially opens and closes summer every year. Everyone is welcome to join Capital House Music Festival for music, dancing and live performances. Black, White and Brown, you can all get down. Young, old and LBTGQ, we got something for you!
We need you help! Our mission is to move your body with World House Music, raise funds and donations for Inner City Music Programs. Our charity is the Sam "The Man" Burns Legacy Foundation and we have already helped them establish their non-profit. We intend to raise funds to help them get established and develop their Arts and Cultural programs. It is dire that we all support the arts and make them accessible to the inner city youth!
We've donated over $100,000 in services and equipment since 2017. This is our FREE event for the community. In our third year 2019 over 2000 came out and in 2021 over 5,000 were in attendance. Gloweventrentals.com is our Title Sponsor, Chrysis Entertainment is our Presenting Sponsor, Breasia Productions provides video and the legendary Pisces Sound will bring the BOOM! WPFW 89.3 is our Radio Sponsor and Fusicology.com is our Media Partner. Special promotions by Robbi The Promoter.

REVIEWS...."EXCELLENT EVENT. The positive energy was electric, infectious and contagious. What happened in the park on Monday definitely catapults DC into the tier of premier Labor Day House Music events in the country. The dance space was wide, open and shady. The rain that fell heightened the spiritual aura of what House is about... We were all the blessed Monday in Malcolm X Park. I know I was."
Produced and underwritten by gloweventrentals.com, CHRYSIS ENTERTAINMENT, djtantra.com, Chris Randolph aka CHOSEN (DJ, Promoter, event host & owner of Milk Chocolate City), NOMABID DC, iHealWellness.com, Fusicology and Tre Shadez Hair Studio in coordination with the Sam "The Man" Burns Legacy Foundationcan.

Can Post-Regime Russia Embrace Christian Democracy? | Free Peoples of Russia House
May 30, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
Washington D.C.
This panel features
Sergei
Chapnin
, Sarah Makin, Ben Weaver
, and moderator Ilya Ponomarev
in a discussion on the role Russian Orthodoxy could play in restoring democracy after regime change, how to secure freedom of conscience in a multi-confessional Russia, and the realities of religious persecution both inside Russia and in occupied Ukrainian territories. Panelists bring expertise in theology, human rights, and policy to examine the challenges and possibilities for a more open, pluralistic future. The conversation will also address whether Church reform is possible—and if so, how it might contribute to healing and rebuilding in a post-authoritarian Russia.
Sergei
Chapnin
is a Russian Orthodox Christian journalist, contemporary Christian art curator, and former senior official within the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC). He is preparing to present his forthcoming report to the United Nations documenting religious persecution in Russia from 2022 to 2025. During his service as executive editor of the Journal of the Moscow Patriarchate, Chapnin established himself as an expert on Orthodox culture while simultaneously developing a prophetic voice against the concerning alliance between Church and State. Following his dismissal in 2015 for his principled stance against this entanglement, he has emerged as a leading Orthodox public figure warning against the spiritual dangers of politicized faith, particularly under Patriarch Kirill's leadership and amid Russia's nationalist and militarist trajectory. Now residing in New York City, Chapnin serves as the director of communications at the Orthodox Christian Studies Center at Fordham University since 2022, while continuing his ministry through writing and speaking internationally, bearing witness to the perilous consequences of state-aligned religion, the crisis of moral and spiritual leadership in contemporary Russian Orthodoxy, and the vital role of sacred art in preserving the integrity of Christian witness in the face of authoritarianism.
Sarah Makin
is a human rights advocate, filmmaker, and former U.S. government official with deep expertise in international religious freedom. She served in the first Trump administration as Deputy Assistant to President Trump, Senior Director on the National Security Council, and the President’s Senior Advisor on International Religious Freedom. She worked on a range of policy initiatives related to religious liberty, civil society, and state-federal engagement. Makin is also a producer of Faith Under Siege, a documentary that investigates the persecution of religious communities in Russian-occupied Ukraine. Her work in Ukraine builds on a broader career dedicated to defending religious minorities, countering authoritarian repression, and advancing human rights. She continues to collaborate with international partners, civil society leaders, and faith communities to promote religious freedom and democratic resilience worldwide.

With statues to Comte de Rochambeau and Marquis de Lafayette, Lafayette Park is a symbol of the importance of French American relations.
Today, the park is in disrepair and needs to be restored to a level of excellence befitting the park’s history and prominent location. As 2026 approaches and the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the Trust is leading, and wants to have completed in 2026, the effort to restore the fountains, replant the gardens, and create a safer, more visitor-friendly park for generations to come. About the Book
Much has been written to try to understand the ideological characteristics of the current Russian government, as well as what is happening inside the mind of Vladimir Putin. Refusing pundits' clichés that depict the Russian regime as either a cynical kleptocracy or the product of Putin's grand Machiavellian designs,
Ideology and Meaning-Making under the Putin Regime
offers a critical genealogy of ideology in Russia today. Marlene Laruelle provides an innovative, multi-method analysis of the Russian regime's ideological production process and the ways it is operationalized in both domestic and foreign policies.
Ideology and Meaning-Making under the Putin Regime
reclaims the study of ideology as an unavoidable component of the tools we use to render the world intelligible and represents a significant contribution to the scholarly debate on the interaction between ideas and policy decisions. By placing the current Russian regime into a broader context of different strains of strategic culture, ideological interest groups, and intellectual history, this book gives readers key insights into how the Russo-Ukrainian War became possible and the role ideology played in enabling it.
