Interested in mingling with your new favorite author outside of the event? Join us for an exclusive happy hour beforehand at Dolomiti Pizza! Happy Hour 5 - 6 PM | Registration required Tickets available for $25 per person . Pizza and appetizers included. Drinks available for purchase. About the book Charley Beekman is thriving. Is she financially strapped, languishing in her legal career, and very likely the youngest divorcee at the Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse on a Friday night? Yes. But, now that she’s accepted the flaws inherent in all romantic relationships, she finally has life all figured out! She’s definitely due for an upswing. So when her free-spirited sister announces her plan to elope with her messy on-again-off-again childhood sweetheart, Charley knows she has to stop the wedding, even if it means road-tripping into the northern woods of Minnesota in a camper van with her childhood best friend, Ethan, who’s as gorgeous as he is chronically unreliable. But when their cozy journey ignites a spark she’s tried to ignore for years, Charley tries to write off her feelings as fleeting. Because after failing at marriage so spectacularly with the most responsible man she’s ever known, Charley definitely shouldn’t risk it all for her non-committal, nomadic, musician best friend . . . right?. About the author Ellie Palmer is the author of Four Weekends and a Funeral, a carrier of the BRCA1 mutation, and a prototypical Midwesterner who routinely apologizes to inanimate objects when she bumps into them. When she’s not writing romantic comedies featuring delightfully messy characters, Ellie’s at home in Minnesota, eating breakfast food, watching too much reality television, and triple texting her husband about their son. 2nd Annual Dr. Matthew Latacha Memorial Bike Ride | West Papio Trail-MillardTrailhead

Aug 31, 2025 (UTC-5)
Omaha
Cultural Experiences
Please join us to honor the life of Dr. Matthew Latacha with a 9 or 18-mile bike ride on the West Papio Trail (run/ walk options also). Last year, we raised nearly $4200 for Bike Walk Nebraska and I am thrilled to report that the money we raised led to the passing of LB 530. This law defines "vulnerable road users" and elevates the penalty for motor vehicle homicide when a vulnerable road user is involved. THANK YOU for your support in protecting pedestrians and cyclists. This year, we are excited to support two different projects: 1) We are partnering with Go Red for Women to sponsor a healthy cooking demonstration at the Expo on October 21st. Proceeds support the American Heart Association . Matthew was a brilliant cardiologist and exceptional chef who cooked for his family daily. He was passionate about healthy cooking, sustainable ingredients, great food, and of course, heart health. This seems like the perfect opportunity to honor those passions! We have committed to a $7500 sponsorship and I think we can do it! 2) A fellow physician and friend from our gym had the brilliant idea to contact the Omaha Parks Foundation for permission to install a pull-up bar along the Zorinsky Trail with a memorial plaque dedicated to Matthew. The bar will be located near the parking lot on the northeast side of 168th street. Our friend is funding a substantial portion of the cost, but we are hoping to cover the rest. He also plans to continue this project along other area trails. This project is just beginning, but the foundation is excited to support this effort. Information Source: Kim Latacha | eventbrite

Threads of Time: Travel, Trade & Textiles | Auckland Art Gallery

Sep 2–Nov 15, 2025 (UTC+12)
Auckland
Exhibitions
Threads of Time: Travel, Trade & Textiles is a jewel-box display in the historic Mackelvie Gallery that offers a survey of European art from the 15th to the 18th centuries. Presenting for the first time new acquisitions and recent donations to our Auckland audiences, this exhibition also showcases beloved paintings and sculptures from the permanent collection, some of which have not been on display for several years. Five thematically-driven, Salon-style hangs underline the sumptuous materiality of fabrics, both as depicted subjects in art and as physical supports that sometimes peek through a painting’s layers of pigment and varnish. Products of technology and trade, fabrics are cultural artefacts. They are also markers of social status and expressions of individual taste and sentiment. As such, their depiction in paintings, sculpture and works on paper is the outcome of precise negotiations between artist and client. Interpreting works from the permanent collection through this social and historical lens, Threads of Time explores how fabrics can offer insight into the interwoven threads of fashion, art and identity in the politics and cultures of the past.

Gothic Returns: Fuseli to Fomison | Auckland Art Gallery

Sep 2–Nov 16, 2025 (UTC+12)
Auckland
Exhibitions
Gothic Returns: Fuseli to Fomison explores the persistent appeal of ‘the gothic’, a broad term that embraces some of the most darkly charismatic imagery ever produced. Incorporating all things unsettling, mysterious, sombre and downright scary, this genre has its origins in the late 18th-century British Romantic movement. First defined by the medievalising novels of Horace Walpole (1717–1797) and the disturbingly sensual paintings of Swiss artist Henry Fuseli (1741–1825), it has since proven almost virus-like in its capacity to adapt and thrive across the centuries. Whatever outward form it assumes, the gothic has also shown itself remarkably true to its essential character: ominous moods, unsettling themes and a melancholy engagement with the past. Sometimes dormant but never fully extinct, the gothic impulse seems ready to resurface at uneasy junctures in history. In Aotearoa New Zealand, it manifested in the early 1990s in cinema, art and fiction at a time of reckoning with the nation’s colonial record. The moment was subsequently hailed by cultural commentators as the birth of the ‘New Zealand Gothic’, but – as many have noted – precursors lurk everywhere in New Zealand art. Few collections are as well placed as Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki’s to engage with the gothic in its early and later manifestations. Drawing upon iconic works from across the collection by the genre’s founders as well as by their contemporary Antipodean counterparts, Gothic Returns: Fuseli to Fomison unites old with new, playfully inviting viewers to enter the ever-enticing dark side of the imagination.

Get ready to train on this course and take your career to the next level! What Is A Hyaluron Pen? Simply put, The Pen is the future. It allows anyone with the proper training to provide their clients with a Hyaluronic Acid Treatment. This can be done on lips, deep lines and provides a revitalization treatment for the face. HA forms a super hydrating net over the skin and delivers water to parched skin over time. Hyaluronic Acid is known to have an amazing water-binding capacity, making it ideal for skin hydration and that means the skin is continuously hydrated, plump and healthy. HA TREATMENTS ARE NOW A REALITY THANKS TO ADVANCES IN TECHNOLOGY. USING HYALURONIC ACID BASED PRODUCTS, OUR CUTTING EDGE TECHNIQUE CAN TRANSFORM YOUR SERVICES YOU OFFER TO YOUR CLIENTS. What is involved in the procedure? The procedure is quite simple and the HA used is safe as the human body produces the exact same acid, it is pretty impossible that anyone would get any sort of allergic reaction or complication from the HA itself. The more Hyaluronic Acid there is inside the Epidermis layer of the skin, the more water is retained keeping its moisture and making the appearance of the skin more youthful. Hyaluron Pen … applies HA. How much can you charge for the procedure? Based on your state, area of location and techniques you do. Minimum price to charge as a New Technician is $300 and as you become skilled in your craft you can charge up to $500 for 1 ml of Hyaluronic Acid. This is great for 30 minutes of work! This is a great return on investment. You can get back what you have invested in your training quickly!
