This showcase exhibition at the Neues Museum is dedicated to one of the first animals to be domesticated by humans: the donkey.The particular significance of this widely underestimated grey animal in the contexts of Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia is presented here from a range of different perspectives, ultimately revealing one key detail: the donkey was utterly indispensable in the ancient world.

Donkeys are one of the earliest farm animals raised by humans. This exhibition will use paintings, sculptures, pottery, papyrus and other objects collected by the Egyptian Museum and the Near Eastern Museum in Berlin to detail the use of donkeys in different fields such as agriculture, military and religion in the ancient world, and present the importance of donkeys to ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia from different perspectives. People often think that donkeys are stubborn, stupid and lazy, but they don’t know that this idea is based on prejudice based on misunderstanding of donkeys’ behavior. In fact, donkeys are smart, loyal and self-reliant animals. Donkeys mainly play an important role in civilian life, but they can also be used in military scenes, taking on the responsibility of carrying food and equipment, and calming excited horses.

The Curated Cupboard is a signature Māya experience and much more than a textile collection that we showcase at our home studio—it is an evolving archive of visual narratives and textile stories. Each textile is part of a larger story of hand-printed crafts and the practise of heritage craft techniques. With this one-of-a-kind experience, we explore materiality, imperfection, and the rhythm of the handprinted and handmade crafts. We offer collectors a free test print and buying experience. Das poetische Konzert von Ivan Kokorin anlässlich des 80. Jubiläums des Sieges über Nazi-Deutschland wird mit lebendigen Worten, Erinnerungen, Schmerz und Stolz für diejenigen gefüllt sein, die gekämpft und gewartet haben, die trotz allem geglaubt und geliebt haben. Auf dem Programm stehen Werke, die zur Stimme der Kriegsgeneration geworden sind. In seinen Gedichten „Erinnerst du dich, Aljoscha, die Straßen von Smolensk“ und „Wart auf mich, ich kehr zurück...“ vermittelt Konstantin Simonov die Schwere des Krieges, die Stärke des menschlichen Geistes und den unendlichen Glauben an die Rückkehr. Gennady Shpalikov reflektiert in den Zeilen „Durch Unglück oder Glück“ und „Freunde verliert man nur einmal“ über die durch den Krieg veränderten Schicksale. Wassili Schukschins Erzählung „Hier ist mein Dorf“ offenbart die Liebe zur Heimat, die auch in den schwierigsten Zeiten im Herzen bleibt. Auch Nikolai Mayorovs Gedichte, die von der Angst, dem Mut und der Tapferkeit der Generation geprägt sind, die an die Front gehen musste, werden in Erinnerung gerufen. Das Kapitel „Ziehharmonika“ aus Alexander Twardowskis Poem „Wassili Tjorkin“ vermittelt mit einfachen, aber präzisen Worten Schmerz, Hoffnung und Brüderlichkeit an der Front. Auch viele andere Werke erzählen davon, wie der Krieg in jedes Schicksal eingriff und alles veränderte, aber Menschlichkeit, Liebe und Erinnerung nicht zerstören konnte. Der Theater- und Filmschauspieler, Rezitator, Dichter und Lehrer Ivan Kokorin hat im Laufe seiner Karriere mehr als siebzig Rollen in Filmen gespielt, darunter die Filme „Neunte Kompanie“, „Ein Stern“, „Chic“, „Der letzte Panzerzug“ und „Die Brüder Karamasow“. Für seine Rolle als Vandal in der Inszenierung von „Exil“ des Moskauer Majakowski-Theaters wurde er 2018 für den national-russischen Theaterpreis „Die goldene Maske“ nominiert. Wir, „young bauhaus“, sind eine Gemeinschaft junger Leute, die Lust haben, sich mit Kunst und Bauhaus auseinanderzusetzen. Um „young bauhaus“ zu sein, brauchen wir einen Raum, Material und uns. Deshalb treffen wir uns wöchentlich im temporary bauhaus-archiv und sind gemeinsam künstlerisch tätig, zeichnen, diskutieren, planen und tätowieren Zitronen. Vom 9. Mai bis zum 12. Juni präsentieren wir im temporary bauhaus-archiv unsere Ausstellung „Unfolding Futures. The Art of Growing Up“. Mit unseren Kunstwerken nähern wir uns dem Thema Erwachsenwerden an – einer Phase der Veränderung, in der man viel Neues lernt und zum ersten Mal zurückblickt auf die eigene Vergangenheit. Wann ist man eigentlich erwachsen und hört dieser Prozess je wieder auf? Was lassen wir zurück und was gewinnen wir neu dazu? Wer bestimmt unsere Zukunft? Was sind eigentlich Wachstumsschmerzen und wenn man rauswächst, wohin wächst man dann? Im Rahmen des Projekts „Nachhaltig produzieren“ des Bundesverbands Freie Darstellende Künste wird ein Maßnahmenkatalog für eine Selbstverpflichtung zur nachhaltigen Produktion entwickelt. Dieser soll in engem Austausch mit den Akteur*innen der Freien Darstellenden Künste erarbeitet werden. Nach einem sehr produktiven ersten Runden Tisch, bei dem die Maßnahmen diskutiert wurden, laden wir nun dazu ein, letzte Rückmeldungen zu Inhalt und Form des Katalogs einzubringen und hoffen, möglichst viele für die Selbstverpflichtung zu gewinnen. Anmeldefrist ist der 21. April 2025. Hinweis zu Barrierefreiheit: Die Veranstaltung findet in Deutscher Lautsprache statt. Bei Bedarf bemühen wir uns, eine Übersetzung in Deutsche Gebärdensprache bereitzustellen. Der Veranstaltungsraum ist barrierefrei. Die Veranstaltung findet im Hochzeitssaal der Sophiensaele im 3. OG statt. Der Hochzeitssaal ist über zwei Treppenhäuser sowie einen Aufzug zugänglich. Eine barrierefreie Toilette (Eingangstür mit 1 m Breite) ist im 1.
