An art workshop, inspired by the captivating works of Northumberland artist Matilda Bevan, will take place at the Granary Gallery in Berwick-upon-Tweed. From 10th February to 5th May 2024, visitors can feast their eyes on Matilda Bevan's extraordinary exhibition, on display in the gallery's premises at TD151ES. Open from Wednesday to Sunday, between 11 am and 4 pm, admission is free for all art enthusiasts. Matilda Bevan's artistry predominantly encompasses the usage of monoprints, a technique that we will delve into during the workshop. Led by local artist Rachel Sutherland, participants will explore the various methods of monoprinting, drawing inspiration from Bevan's captivating artwork. The workshop commences with a brief tour of the exhibition, guided by Rachel, followed by a delightful coffee break in the serene YHA conference rooms where the workshop will be held. With Rachel's expert guidance, attendees will have the opportunity to create their own extraordinary images, while she introduces the themes of the day. A 30-minute lunch break will be provided at 12:30 pm, during which attendees can enjoy a meal from the YHA cafe or bring their own packed lunch. The workshop will resume promptly at 1 pm and conclude at 3 pm. Art materials such as easels and tables will be provided, although participants are encouraged to bring their own board if needed. Additionally, they should also bring their own robust paper, acrylic paints, brushes, and pencils. Rachel will bring extra supplies and subjects for creating prints. For those interested, you may bring your own leaves or seaweed to incorporate into your monoprints.
