Behind its charming exterior lie reports of unexplained footsteps, cold spots, and voices that seem to come from nowhere. If you’ve ever wanted to spend the night in a genuinely haunted hall, this ghost hunt is your chance. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere feels heavy and expectant, as if the building is quietly watching. Whether this is your first ghost hunt or you’ve joined many before, Mayer Hall offers an intimate and immersive night you won’t forget. Why Mayer Hall is Perfect for a Ghost Hunt Built in 1878 by local benefactor Joseph Mayer, the hall has served as an art gallery, museum, council chamber, and community hub. Over the years, countless people have passed through its doors, leaving layers of energy and emotion behind. The hall stands on older foundations, adding even more depth to its history and reported hauntings. Many guests and visitors have spoken of unsettling footsteps in empty corridors, unexplained temperature drops, and the distinct feeling of being followed. Your Night of Ghost Hunting: What to Expect You will have access to key areas of Mayer Hall, including spaces rarely explored after dark. Our team will lead you through structured vigils, giving you the opportunity to try real ghost-hunting techniques for yourself. Activities may include: Ouija board sessions Table tipping Séances and calling out in known hotspots All are carried out respectfully and with guidance, so you can take part at a level you feel comfortable with. Hauntings Reported at Mayer Hall Footsteps in the dark – Heavy footsteps are often heard when nobody else is nearby, especially along corridors and stairways. Sudden cold spots – Guests frequently report sharp drops in temperature, sometimes accompanied by the sensation of being watched. Voices from nowhere – Disembodied voices have been picked up on recorders and heard with the naked ear, from whispers to urgent shouts. Could these experiences be linked to former visitors, staff, or even Joseph Mayer himself? Ghost-Hunting Equipment Provided We provide a range of ghost-hunting equipment so you can try to capture your own evidence throughout the night. Typical equipment includes: EMF meters EVP / digital voice recorders Dowsing rods Temperature and environmental monitors You are welcome to bring your own equipment if you have it; the more we use, the better our chances of documenting something unusual. The Man Behind the Hall: Joseph Mayer Joseph Mayer was a Victorian philanthropist, collector, and lover of art who devoted much of his life to providing education and culture for the people of Bebington. He built and endowed the hall and surrounding facilities so the local community could enjoy lectures, exhibitions, and a free library. Some believe his presence may still linger in the building he created and gifted to the village, watching over the hall and those who step inside. What to Bring on Your Ghost Hunt To get the most from your night at Mayer Hall, we recommend bringing: Torch and spare batteries – Essential for moving safely around the building in low light. Warm clothing – Old buildings can become very cold overnight, especially in quieter areas. Comfortable shoes – You will be on your feet, walking and standing during vigils. Phone/camera – Ideal for capturing photographs and video if anything unusual occurs. Open mind – Come prepared to experience the building as it is, whether you are sceptical or a believer. Drinks, Snacks and Facilities Throughout the ghost hunt, we provide a selection of hot and cold drinks plus light snacks to keep you going into the early hours. There will be short breaks between sessions so you can warm up, chat about your experiences, and review any potential evidence you may have captured. Booking Your Mayer Hall Ghost Hunt The Mayer Hall ghost hunt on Saturday 3rd October runs from 8:00 PM to 2:00 AM, giving you six full hours of structured and free investigation time. Tickets are just £29 per person , and places are limited to keep the groups small and focused. The KS2 New Age Kurling (SEND) - Inspire competition is an event that aims to inspire competition and support individual development and character in the sport. This event requires all participants to be on the SEND register and should be from Year 3, 4, 5 or 6. The squad size for each team should be 5, with a team size of 4. It's important to note that pupils participating in the Boccia competition will not be able to take part in the New Age Kurling event. During the competition, the game is played down the length of a badminton court, with the target circle placed on the junction of the centre line and doubles service line. Stones are rolled alternatively towards the target, starting from behind the first line of the badminton court. Participants must have a part of their body behind the line when rolling. The objective of the game is to get as many of your team's stones as close to the target as possible. Tactics can be used, such as blocking an opponent's path or hitting an opponent's stone to improve your own position. There are specific rules to follow, such as removing stones that fail to reach the service line or hit the back wall immediately. Scoring is calculated based on the number of consecutive stones a team can roll closest to the target at the end of each round. Only one team scores points each end, and the team with the most cumulative points at the end of the final round wins the game. The number of ends per game will be determined by the organizer based on time restraints and the number of teams participating. Please note that individual schools are responsible for their own first aid provision and should ensure they have access to medical and emergency contact details.

Join the KS2 Boccia (Participation) - Inspire competition and experience the thrill of competitive sports. This event aims to inspire individual development and build character. The squad size is limited to a maximum of 4, while the team size should consist of 3 players. Open to pupils in Year 3, 4, 5, or 6, this event offers a fantastic opportunity for those who may not enjoy traditional team sports. Please note that participating in the Boccia event will preclude pupils from taking part in the New Age Kurling Competition, which will run concurrently. In Boccia, each team strives to position their balls as close as possible to the target ball (jack), similar to the game of bowls. The referee determines the team placement through a coin toss, with the winning team occupying boxes 1, 3, 5 using red balls, or boxes 2, 4, 6 using blue balls. Players take turns throwing, rolling, or kicking the white Jack from box 1, ensuring it lands within the court and over the 'V' shaped line. Assistive devices, such as ramps, can be used if necessary. The player then proceeds to throw their red ball, aiming to get as close to the white jack as possible. The next player on the opposing team (blue team) follows suit, propelling their first ball. If the blue ball is closer to the target ball than the red ball, the turn passes to the next player from the red team. However, if the blue ball is further away, the player continues with their second ball. If the blue ball is closer to the target than the red ball, the second player from the red team takes their turn. Conversely, if the blue ball is still farther away, the turn passes to the second player from the blue team. The red team only plays again when a blue ball is situated closer to the target or when all the blue balls have been played. After all balls have been played, the score is tallied. Each team receives one point for every ball situated nearer to the white jack than the closest opposing team ball. Additionally, if two or more balls from different teams are positioned at the same distance from the target ball, each team is awarded one point. Any ball that goes out of the court is considered a 'dead ball' and is out of play. Please remember that schools are responsible for their own first aid provision and should ensure they have access to medical and emergency contact details. Get ready for an exhilarating competition at the Co-op Academy Bebington on March 13, 2024. Admission is free, so don't miss out on this opportunity to showcase your skills and sportsmanship.
