The first classical garden light and shadow show in Shanghai, Yiyou Garden Full Courtyard Fragrance, officially opened on February 5, 2023, the Lunar New Year's Day. The light and shadow show is based on the unique Jiangnan garden culture of Shen Garden in Shanghai World Expo Cultural Park. It is based on the story of the twelve flower gods in Chinese folklore, and integrates traditional Chinese culture such as opera, dance, and folk music. It uses interactive projection and other light and shadow technology to bring an immersive experience. The whole show shows the style of Shanghai, inherits the aesthetics of China, and unfolds a picture of "flowers blooming in Shen Garden and fragrant on the sea" for tourists.

The Originator of Chinese Realistic Garden Opera
The "Real-scene Garden Kunqu Opera "The Peony Pavilion"" was premiered at the World Expo in June 2010, and has been performed 272 times in Zhujiajiao Kezhi Garden in 12 years. It has received a total of 60,000 audiences from all over the country and the world. The play is co-produced by musician Tan Dun, who is the artistic director, and Kunqu artist Zhang Jun. It presents the masterpiece "The Peony Pavilion" by the great Ming Dynasty writer Tang Xianzu in real scenes and real situations. It is the first real-scene garden Kunqu opera in China.
This work presents the life style of Kunqu Opera during its heyday, creating a classical atmosphere of literati and scholars enjoying opera on a moonlit night, and restoring the elegant life of guests visiting the wealthy families in ancient China.
Chapter 1: Garden Tour
Du Liniang and her maid Chunxiang go to the back garden for a stroll. She is mesmerized by the spring scenery and takes a nap in her dream, enjoying the tenderness between her and Liu Mengmei. She feels lost when she wakes up.
Chapter 2: Soul Separation
From then on, Du Liniang became lovesick and eventually died of a serious illness. On her deathbed, she asked her maid Chunxiang to bury her under a plum tree in the back garden and bury her portrait under a Taihu stone.
Chapter 3: Secret Love
Three years later, Liu Mengmei went to Beijing to take the imperial examination and stayed at the Plum Blossom Temple. He found a portrait of Du Liniang and fell in love with her. He called her repeatedly. Du Liniang heard her voice and her spirit wandered to the back garden. She offered her pillow to Liu Mengmei as a ghost.
Chapter 4: Resurrection
The love between the two was so deep that it moved heaven and earth. With the help of Aunt Shi, Du Liniang came back to life and they finally became husband and wife.
