Surprise! Amazing!
Such delicious food can be found in Egilsstadir, a small town in northeastern Iceland.
The hotel lobby bar has a happy hour from 5 to 7 pm, with half-price drinks. The restaurant starts serving dinner at 6 pm.
Lobster soup: rich and complex flavor, with the freshness of shrimp and the aroma of dark chocolate, delicious.
Two appetizers: one is a game platter, with smoked seabird, reindeer, and goose slices, very fragrant, without any fishy smell. The other is fish and chips, which completely overturned my aversion to British fish and chips. The salmon belly is fried in batter, the fish meat is tender, melts in the mouth, and is full of fresh fragrance. The fries can taste the sweet taste of potatoes themselves.
Two main courses: one is the signature dish of the store, the reindeer burger. The salty and sweet sauce, the reindeer meat is half-cooked, the most delicious burger I have ever eaten, no one else. Another dish is the pan-fried salmon. The fish skin is slightly browned, and the aroma of fish fat bursts in your mouth. It is an indescribable enjoyment. The fish meat is smooth and tender, and the fresh taste and texture are unprecedented.
I am still drooling as I write this. Alas, I am a natural foodie, what can I do?
