Alaska snow crab, one crab, three ways to eat: 1. Steamed egg with crab roe. 2. Crab legs as sashimi. 3. Steamed the rest. This is my favorite way to eat it. The freshness of the ingredients determines whether it tastes delicious. So this Japanese restaurant is still very good!
Because we had made a reservation at TB for the two-Michelin-starred Kikunoi, we said we must not be late, so before we reached the top of the mountain, we walked down the mountain and took a bus to Roan Kikunoi in Gion Shijo. It tastes pretty good, I like it very much!
The highlight of the night is Michelin recommended, Kikunoi. We booked almost a month in advance. Different price ranges use different grades of ingredients. Each dish is like a work of art. Even the menu has two versions, Japanese and English, printed on beautiful Japanese paper, which you can take home as a souvenir. There will be a detailed description of each dish. Of course, there are basically no Chinese waiters here. Fortunately, there are local Osaka classmates in our group who can translate, otherwise we would not know what we are eating.
We went there for a fancy Japanese 11 course kaiseki lunch. What makes the whole experience even more special is that you are in a private room overlooking a garden or at least some greenery. (You won't get a private room if you go there just for a regular lunch - like a bento lunch). All dishes are carefully prepared and cooked to order - a sight to behold. Yes, as other reviews have mentioned the combination of flavours you experience won't necessarily be as rich as you might expect in a 3*-superior kitchen. It's not as it is the Kikunois philosophy that introduces the chef to book. For me it's hard to judge the food in general, it was clear that there were many ingredients I'd never had before and new flavours of the highest quality that we experienced. To be honest I enjoyed it but not always done to the highest standard. Service was great and very friendly - fluent in English and everything was explained in detail in English (also the menu). All in all we spent 3 hours here and had a fantastic time and it was an experience of a lifetime. In many places the taste is in the city centre. Here the culinary experience will be the centre of attention with a fantastic setting and presentation. For those of you who are shocked by the prices - maybe you would be willing to pay 100 dollars more than a ticket for a concert that plays for an hour and a half. You will pay a little more but get three hours for it. Be sure to book as early as possible in advance but there is a high demand for several rooms.
Kikunoi Such exquisite kaiseki cuisine. The chef's knife skills are also great. The taste is really strange. I was so full after eating the 4th of the 12 dishes. But the boss lady is really elegant. Even the tableware feels antique. The meal cost 450 yuan per person, worth it!
Kikunoi is a very famous Japanese restaurant with very good business. There are three Kikunoi restaurants in the world, two in Kyoto and one in Tokyo. The main restaurant in Kyoto has three Michelin stars and the one in Tokyo has two Michelin stars. Everything here is first-class from the environment to the dishes to the service.
