Pingtan Island | November off-season is legendary! Like stepping into the windmill-filled seas of Jeju Island — traveler post in Pingtan County

Pingtan Island | November off-season is legendary! Like stepping into the windmill-filled seas of Jeju Island

You get it! Compared to the busy and crowded Pingtan in summer, I love it more in November✨ No crowds of tourists, homestays have dropped prices, seafood is plump and delicious, and on sunny days the water is crystal clear. Every photo looks like a cool, cinematic shot. One reminder: the sea breeze on the island is really wild! Be sure to bring a windproof jacket. 🚞 Getting there Take the high-speed train directly to "Pingtan Station." Once you get off, rent a small e-scooter—it's the soul of island touring! Choose an e-scooter with a range of over 100km; in the off-season, it's 50–70/day. If you're afraid of the wind, rent a car to drive yourself. Bus schedules are very limited, so it's not recommended. 🏨 Where to stay ▫️ Longwangtou (County Town) | Top choice! Dining, late-night snacks, and supermarkets are all available. You can watch the sunrise right downstairs. It offers the best value and is perfect for first-time visitors. ▫️ Beigang Village | Stone house homestays. Artistic and quiet. Open the window to see the sea. Perfect for photos and a slow-paced vacation. ▫️ Tannawan | Jelly-like sea. The main battlefield for chasing "blue tears." Fewer people, suitable for those who want to quietly watch the sea. 📅 2 days 1 night | A relaxed island-loop route Day 1 [North Route | Windmills + Stone House Highlights] Beigang Cultural and Creative Village | Scattered stone houses, "stones that sing." Sit in a seaside cafe for an afternoon; the atmosphere is perfect. → The most beautiful island-loop road. Stop whenever you want, with the blue sea accompanying you the whole way. → Jingsha Black Reef Beach | Pingtan's "Little Iceland." Black reefs + the sea. A great spot for moody, cinematic photos. Remember to check the tides! → Beibuwan Ecological Corridor | Mountain-winding viewing platform, overlooking the entire sea of windmills. → Changjiang'ao Windmill Field! The main event. Huge windmills paired with a tangerine-colored sunset. A must-visit in Pingtan. If you have time in the evening, try your luck at Tannawan to see if you can encounter autumn "blue tears" (keep your expectations low; they aren't there every day). Day 2 [South Route | Gentle Mirror-like Sea] Wake up early at Longwangtou Beach to watch the sunrise. The beach is wide, and the sunrise is very healing. → Xianrenjing | Sea-eroded vertical shaft, a unique coastal landform. → Houyan Island (68 Nautical Miles) | The place on the mainland closest to Taiwan. The red road signs are great for photos. → Tannawan · Tianmei'ao | Fine sand, the seawater is a pale jelly blue. Quiet and uncrowded. Perfect for wading and daydreaming. Return to the county town in the evening for a big local seafood feast. 🦞 Must-eat local food ✅ Shilaiyunzhuan | Pingtan's signature! Chewy skin wrapped with seafood filling. ✅ Xian Shi, Oyster Cakes. Freshly fried at roadside stalls; they are incredibly fragrant. ✅ Bazhen Fried Cake, Pingtan Fish Balls, Oyster Omelet. ✅ For seafood, prioritize the county town market. Pick fresh ones and find a restaurant to cook them; it's much more cost-effective than the tourist area food stalls. ⚠️ Blogger's hard-learned tips ▪️ The sea breeze is fierce! Even if it's sunny, the temperature drops quickly in the evening. Bring a windproof jacket, hat, and scarf. Don't just bring pretty dresses. ▪️ The reef area is super slippery! Be sure to wear non-slip shoes. Do not stay on the reefs during high tide. ▪️ Remember to check the forecast for "blue tears" in advance. Tannawan and Changjiang'ao are high-frequency spots. Don't blindly stay up all night waiting. ▪️ UV rays hide behind the clouds! Don't be lazy with sunscreen and sunglasses. ▪️ Ask about unit prices and processing fees at seafood restaurants in tourist areas first. Avoid shops that solicit customers. ▪️ November isn't really suitable for swimming in the sea, but it's perfectly fine for taking photos, cycling, and beachcombing. If you are tired of the crowds and want to find a quiet island to feel the breeze, watch windmills, and chase a tangerine-colored sunset, Pingtan is truly worth a trip. The wind is free, and so is the sea🌊

Waiting for the sunrise while feeling the sea breeze—this trip to Pingtan was totally worth it!

I always feel like life is on fast-forward, so I just wanted to find a real ocean to unwind for a few days, watch the sunrise, chase the "blue tears," and stay in a cozy haven right by the beach. You don't have to wake up too early in the morning; just a few steps and you're on the soft, fine sand. As the sea breeze blows, you instantly feel relaxed. Location Building 13, No. 95 Haitan East Road, Pingtan County, Fuzhou City, Fujian Province. After a tiring day, coming back to a hot shower and curling up in bed to binge-watch shows was pure bliss. The staff were also very gentle and responsive to any needs. 🗺️ Tips for exploring the area 1. Longwangtou Ocean Park: Within walking distance. Come for the sunrise around 5:00 AM; the orange-pink sky and sea are breathtakingly romantic. At low tide, you can walk barefoot in the water and pick up seashells. 2. Cycling on the Island Ring Road: Rent an e-scooter right outside the hotel and take a slow ride along the north or south route. Feel the sea breeze, see the wind turbine fields, and take photos that look like movie stills. 3. Food hunting: In the evening, head to the nearby Haitan specialty snack street to try authentic "Shi Lai Yun Zhuan" (lucky dumplings), "Bayin Ba" (eight-tone cakes), and oyster omelets—it's full of local charm. Pingtan's ocean is the kind of place you'll miss for a long time after just one visit. Do you prefer visiting hidden, niche bays or lively, popular beaches when you go to the sea? Pingtan's finest! Stay in a white manor amidst the sea of windmills — traveler post in Pingtan County

Pingtan's finest! Stay in a white manor amidst the sea of windmills

✨I've been to Pingtan many times. Honestly, most seaside homestays are either overcrowded or too far from the windmill sea, and the constant traveling back and forth drains all the fun. This time, I finally found a hidden gem—Pengqiu Manor. It perfectly integrates accommodation with the windmill sea view, making it my top choice for a vacation in Pingtan. 🌊 [Why I highly recommend it] Many people come to Pingtan with an itinerary like this: take a taxi → visit the windmills → take photos and leave. But the essence of a vacation shouldn't be rushing around. The most precious thing about Pengqiu is that it is a scenic spot in itself. With white arched corridors, stone seaside arches, seaside high-altitude swings, and the Bonjour viewing platform, it has a clean, high-end architectural aesthetic, so you don't have to run around looking for photo spots. When you look out, you see fields of offshore windmills, the blue sea, and distant islands. You can face the windmill sea—the same one featured on CCTV—right from the manor. 📸 [Tested photo spots | Ultimate guide] 1. Stone Arch Sea-View Gate: An iconic spot! The door frame acts as a natural picture frame. Walking toward the sea with your back to the camera creates a cinematic narrative, and the light and shadows on a sunny day are incredible. 2. White Curved Corridor: Soft, gentle light. Perfect for walking and posing in a long dress; it's clean, healing, and great for portrait photography. 3. Seaside Steel Swing: With the boundless sea beneath your feet and a dense backdrop of offshore windmills, this is unique to Pingtan. 4. Bonjour Viewing Swing Platform: High-altitude view overlooking the entire windmill sea area, creating a perfect atmosphere. The manor's public area sofas and hollowed-out feature walls are also great for relaxed photos. Whether you're on a girls' trip, a couple's date, or a wedding photoshoot, you can get great shots straight from your camera without heavy editing. 🏨 [Real stay experience] This is a high-end vacation manor, not a simple "Instagrammable" check-in spot. The amenities and butler service are top-notch. Whether it's peak or off-peak season, it offers great privacy, so you won't have crowds of tourists fighting for photo spots. They can arrange afternoon tea and coffee, and they also support commercial shoots, proposals, small private dinners, and team-building events. It's even more comfortable in the off-season; the sea breeze is quiet, making it perfect for relaxing and slowing down. I've always said that a good vacation hotel is one that makes you want to stay inside, rather than just wanting to go out. The best state of travel isn't checking off all the landmarks, but finding a place where the wind is slow, the sea is vast, and you don't have to chase time. At Pengqiu, the windmills turn slowly on the sea, and the sea breeze passes through the corridors. You can sit on the swing and daydream, take a slow walk along the arches, or do nothing at all and just watch the sea. If you come to Pingtan and want to avoid the crowds, and you're looking for a relaxed, high-quality, photogenic, and comfortable vacation, you can't go wrong with this place. 📍Address: Pingtan · Pengqiu South of France Vacation Manor ✅Suitable for: Couples' honeymoons | Girls' trips | Wedding photoshoots | Small team-building events | Proposal ceremonies

I ended up discovering a trendy new resort hotel🏨—Pingtan Liyuan Resort Hotel (Longwangtou Beach Branch). ✅The hotel is located in the heart of Pingtan, just a 10-minute walk from Longwangtou Beach. You won't feel rushed getting up for the sunrise🌅, and you can even catch up on sleep when you get back. Plus, there are plenty of dining options nearby. Whether you're traveling solo, on a romantic getaway, on a family trip, or here for a corporate retreat, you'll find a comfortable place to stay here. ✅I booked a "Deep Sleep Twin Room" on 🐬 a week in advance. With two 1.5m beds ➕ zero-pressure, spine-supporting mattresses, I had a great night's sleep😴. The toiletries are from geruiboom, featuring a light, gentle scent that leaves my skin feeling hydrated and comfortable after washing😬. ✅For dining, I tried the breakfast and afternoon tea🫖. Breakfast is served in the second-floor buffet restaurant🍴, which offers a wide variety of options, including some local snacks. For afternoon tea in the first-floor cafe☕️, we ordered a latte and a signature drink🥤. It was delicious😎. ✅By the way, there's a 24-hour free self-service laundry and a gym on the lower level🏋️. There are also children's play facilities, so parents don't need to worry😕. The lobby has a very stylish design, perfect for taking photos🤳 that look like professional shots—it feels very upscale~ Most importantly, I think it offers great value for money. Boqing Coast on Pingtan Island | Unlock your new island vacation experience

✅ Located in Gangdong Village on Pingtan Island, Boqing Coast Coastal Resort faces the five-star Golden Beach. From here, you can watch kitesurfers gliding between the sea and sky. With its unique stone house texture and modern coastal aesthetics, this homestay has recently become a popular new spot in Pingtan. We headed straight here after getting off the train. ✅ Walking into the reception lobby at Boqing Coast, you'll see watercolor paintings of red sea bream, ocean-themed decorations throughout the guest rooms, and floor-to-ceiling windows that offer panoramic views. Every detail echoes Pingtan's blue sea and sky, giving the old stone houses a sophisticated feel with a mountain-and-sea atmosphere. The host mentioned it was our first stay and upgraded us to a room with a better view—thank you so much! 😊 (The host was very attentive and responsive throughout our stay.) ✅ I booked a "Sea View Pool View Twin Room" on 🐬 a week in advance. The room features simple, steady lines and a gentle, elegant creamy color palette, paired with immersive ocean-themed decor. I fell in love with it as soon as I walked in. 😍 Standing on the terrace, you can overlook the pool 🏊 and the blue sky and sea 🌊, which is instantly refreshing... (Guests also get a free travel photography session. The entire homestay has so many photo spots—it's super photogenic! 🤳) ✅ Additionally, they offer laundry services, which is very friendly for long-term guests. Breakfast has a lot of local character, and the oyster cakes 🦪 are quite delicious~ Sitting on the restaurant terrace, you can watch kitesurfing during the day and chat with friends at night. It feels as cozy as home. 💗 ✅ This homestay cluster, renovated from old stone houses, has transformed from a few idle village houses into a coastal vacation complex covering nearly 60 mu with diverse offerings. A moment where mountains and sea coexist — traveler post in Pingtan County

A moment where mountains and sea coexist

Tucked away in the folds of the mountains and sea, we found this renovated stone house. 🏨: Pingtan XII·IV Sunrise Sea View Homestay Address: No. 97, Beilanling, Yuyu Village, Junshan Town, Pingtan County The stone walls retain their original texture, interlocking with clean, modern lines. The swimming pool is embedded into the hillside, its clear blue water gradually blending with the hues of the distant sea. Pale stepping stones float on the water's surface; as the wind brushes past the grass, light and shadow dance slowly across the pool, leaving behind a sense of expansive tranquility. It is perfect for booking the entire property as a base for your group. The room layouts are spacious, with large floor-to-ceiling windows framing the sea view. In some rooms, you can see a private hot spring pool right from the bed, and the bathrooms feature oval bathtubs placed by the window, allowing you to take in the blue sea and sky while you soak. Other rooms carry a quiet, retro oriental aesthetic, with dark iron bed frames, textured, vintage-toned floral backdrops, and lantern pendants casting soft light—a style that feels substantial without being oppressive. The spacious living area is the heart of the gathering. Low couches surround a long, natural wood table, with the courtyard and the mountains and sea just beyond the floor-to-ceiling doors. Those who want to chat can gather here to share stories or have casual work discussions, while those who need some time to themselves can step out onto the terrace, head to the poolside, or retreat to their own rooms for some quiet, uninterrupted time. The courtyard is divided into different corners. A separate, curved private pool is tucked away beside a stone wall, complete with two lounge chairs and a small round table—the perfect spot for two or three friends to sit and enjoy some quiet time together. As dusk falls, the sea is painted with a soft, rosy glow, and wind turbines stand silently in the distance. A good team-building trip isn't about non-stop group games; it's about standing together under the same mountains and sea, where we can enjoy each other's company while still having the space to relax and recharge on our own.

Pingtan 3-day experience: No "guaranteed sighting" tours for Blue Tears; taking a taxi is safer for night chases — traveler post in Pingtan County

Pingtan 3-day experience: No "guaranteed sighting" tours for Blue Tears; taking a taxi is safer for night chases

The Blue Tears in Pingtan are a natural phenomenon, not a tourist attraction performance. Anyone telling you they "guarantee a sighting" or that a "paid guide ensures you'll see blue" is just capitalizing on probability to take your money. There are only two truly effective things to do: check the daily forecast level on the "Pingtan Blue Tears" WeChat official account after 6:00 PM, and book your accommodation near Tannan Bay or Longwangtou to reduce the transportation gamble on nights you're chasing the tears. 🗺️ 3-day route (North and South separated, don't force the chase) Day 1: South route base for chasing tears: Tannan Bay Tianmeiao – Aoqian Fishing Port – Houyan Island. Houyan Island (68 Nautical Miles) is free but requires booking 1–3 days in advance; it's common not to get a spot on-site during peak season. Tannan Bay Tianmeiao is a high-frequency spot for Blue Tears, it's free, and accessible by bus line 20. Have dinner at Aoqian Fishing Port in the evening, then head straight to Tannan Bay once it gets dark; don't run back and forth between the north and south. Don't wear flip-flops when chasing tears; the rocky areas are full of gravel. Non-slip shoes or shoe covers are recommended for beachcombing and staking out spots. Day 2: North route mountains, sea + sunset: Xianrenjing – Northern Ecological Corridor – Beigang Stone Houses – Changjiang'ao Windmill Field. The north route is perfect for a slow ride on a rented e-bike (about 80 yuan/day). Choose a model with a range of over 80 km. When picking up the bike, take a 360° video of its condition, documenting scratches and battery level. Don't take a taxi to watch the sunset at Changjiang'ao; traffic is a nightmare when everyone leaves, and the bus is actually more cost-effective. Return to the county seat or Beigang in the evening to stay; don't plan on chasing tears, and give yourself a buffer to recover your energy. Day 3: Relaxed finish + second chase: Longwangtou Beach – Dafu Bay – Tianshui Ancient Village. In the evening, head back toward Tannan Bay or Changjiang'ao to stake out the Blue Tears one more time. The probability of seeing Blue Tears is highest between 12:00 AM and 3:00 AM, but don't force yourself to stay up; if you see them in the first half of the night, it's a bonus, and if not, just enjoy the sea breeze. 🛵 The core logic of transportation: E-bikes by day, don't gamble at night On Pingtan Island, an e-bike is the absolute best choice during the day. It avoids traffic jams, lets you stop and take photos whenever you want, and the scenery along the island loop road is worth the rental fee alone. However, chasing tears is a nighttime activity, and e-bike range and return safety are variables. On nights you're chasing tears, prioritize spots within walking distance of your accommodation (Tannan Bay Tianmeiao). If you need to go to a more distant spot, book a ride-hailing car for the return trip in advance or ask your homestay host to help arrange a car. Don't gamble on your battery life by riding an e-bike in the middle of the night. When exiting the high-speed railway station, don't take unlicensed taxis; choose ride-hailing services with fixed prices or official shuttle buses. 🏠 Where to stay For chasing tears, prioritize staying around Tannan Bay or Longwangtou. You can walk to the beach, and you won't have to worry about transportation at night. Beigang Village or Changjiang'ao are great for sea views and photographing stone houses, but you'll need to commute on nights you're chasing tears. Don't stay deep in the north route just for a sea view room label; the randomness of the Blue Tears will make every nighttime trip a cost. ⚠️ A few things to remember There is no official channel that "guarantees" you'll see the Blue Tears. Paid guides can at most provide location and tide information; they cannot promise the probability of a sighting. Book Houyan Island, book Houyan Island, book Houyan Island—free does not mean no reservation required. Do not go barefoot in rocky areas; the gravel and barnacle shells are sharper than you'd imagine. Don't buy dried seafood at small stalls in tourist areas; supermarkets in the old town offer better value. During morning and evening rush hours (7:00 AM – 8:00 AM, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM), popular roads get congested; take the bus or an e-bike whenever possible. The beauty of Pingtan is half in the luck of catching the Blue Tears, and half in the afternoons spent feeling the breeze on the island loop road. Get your bookings done, choose the right transportation, and keep your expectations realistic—even if you don't catch them, it's still worth it. Pingtan Island

After exploring the Beibu Gulf Corridor on the northern route, we chose a nearby seafood restaurant, Xiaobailou, for lunch. It's worth mentioning that this is the only restaurant in the Beibu Gulf area, and the owners are three veterans—easygoing and reliable. The landlady is very attentive, helping us order and reminding us of portion sizes. The seafood is fresh, prepared in a home-style way, without being overly flavorful, and the taste is excellent value for money. That evening, we stayed at the Beibu Gulf Innovation and Entrepreneurship Cluster Youth Hostel. It was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The location is great for visiting the northern route attractions, convenient for going to Changjiang'ao and the Windmill Forest. Overall, the trip was hassle-free in terms of both food and accommodation, without any unnecessary hassles. If you're visiting the Beibu Gulf area and want to eat seafood or find a place to stay, these two places are worth trying.

Step into Pingtan Donghai Wonderland and witness the spectacular sea erosion created by nature. Millions of years of ocean erosion have carved out this giant natural vertical shaft, with steep, dark rock walls hanging straight down, and a dark cave at the bottom connecting to the vast East China Sea. At high tide, giant waves surge into the shaft, crashing against the rock walls with a thunderous roar, the surging white waves creating a breathtaking spectacle.

The seafood is all fresh daily, caught and cooked to order, with authentic flavors that highlight the natural sweetness of the seafood. The prices are transparent, and they don't overcharge just because of tourist attractions, which is a huge plus. We stayed and ate here for the past few days, saving us the hassle of finding our way around. Whether visiting the glass walkway, the windmill forest, or Changjiang'ao, everything went smoothly. Meeting honest and reliable people on your trip is invaluable; you can confidently plan your trip on the North Route.

Tannan Bay

Changjiang'ao Beach

This trip to the northern route of Pingtan was such a delightful surprise! We made a special trip to Changjiang'ao to watch the sunset over the windmills. Vast stretches of windmills line the mudflats, the sea breeze carrying a salty scent. Even with thick clouds, the sheer vastness of the ocean was breathtaking. The owner was incredibly welcoming and provided attentive service, even reminding us to order. The seafood was fresh and plentiful, with its authentic flavors – a truly reassuring experience. Mount Jiangjun

The mountains and the sea are connected, the terrain is steep and rugged, the rocks are intertwined, the rocks are jagged, the scenery is beautiful, and it is a famous military exercise site in history, which makes it even more magnificent. It is a pity that some attractions are closed to visitors during the renovation.
