Wenlin Street

Wenlin Street was formed in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Originally, it was just a small dirt road. Because it was near Gongyuan (now the site of Yunnan University), it was a gathering place for imperial examination candidates. Also because of its proximity to Yunnan University and Yunnan Normal University, it also attracts young and middle-aged people from all over the world who want to keep the "student spirit" forever. Wenlin Street has settled in many petty bourgeoisie shops and gathered many delicacies. It is a must-see place in Kunming recommended in travel brochures and magazine travel columns. Hu Jiu Snacks, Douxiang Garden, Manna, Hemin, Impression Pavilion, El Salvador Cafe, Lanbaihong, Prague and other dozens of Chinese and Western restaurants, cafes and individual shops have all made it to various recommended lists. Today's Wenlin Street may have lost a bit of its popularity, the road has been widened, cars are coming and going, banks and modern educational institutions have landed on both sides. However, after all, here is a pure land for the hustle and bustle of the city, and there is no rich and impetuous modern business atmosphere. All the chicly designed and quaint little shops proclaim the life attitude of "slow down time"; "Wenlin Memory" music bar gathers bands and singers from Kunming and from all over the world all year round; it is close to Dongfeng West Road. On the side, an old house with a civil structure is mottled and painted, and on the street is an old shop selling comic books, umbrellas, and bags. It has been lively and watched for decades.
