While these areas are connected by sprawling train and bus networks, it is important to be familiar with its geography. Hong Kong Island is where the Central area, the political and economic center, is located. Although intimidating at first, it harbors a number of affordable guesthouses and hostels. It is also home to many tourist attractions including the Victoria Peak. Kowloon is where you will find most museums, markets, and the Avenue of Stars. It also has the greatest concentration of cheap guesthouses. The New Territories, north of Kowloon, is dotted with wetland parks and temples. Lantau Island, one of the many outlying islands, takes pride in Ngong Ping (Giant Buddha and Po Lin Monastery) and Hong Kong Disneyland. Here are more bits of info you might want to know to prep for your trip. Language: Cantonese and English are the official languages. Almost 95% of the population speaks Cantonese. Almost everything a tourist would need has an English translation, so there isn’t that thick of a language barrier. Mandarin is also starting to flourish as more immigrants from the mainland pour in. Once you reach the peak, start your walk along Lugard Road, where you can see the full panorama of Victoria Harbour all the way, the whole journey takes about half an hour. You can wait for a blues moment to see the night view, it's very worthwhile. Tips: When going to Victoria Peak, make sure to check the weather for good visibility and sunset, it's worth it then. There's also a square on the peak with food and drink shops, and plenty of beverage shops, very convenient! The Peak's viewing platform charges an extra fee, it's recommended to view the night scene from Lugard Road.

A trip to Victoria Peak is a must for visitors to Hong Kong. Many ride up the Peak Tram and enjoy the view from there but don't know there's much more to see. A circle route takes you all the way around the Peak, giving a view in every direction. Parts of the trail go through well established forest and it feels more like being in the jungle than in the middle of a densely populated city. It's definitely one of the best places to see the skylines of Central and Kowloon, separated by Victoria Harbour. The circle takes about an hour at a reasonable walking pace. Traveling alone to Hong Kong Island is a great choice. You can start from North Point and walk along the waterfront promenade all the way to Sai Ying Pun. Such a city walk allows you to check in at Hong Kong's key famous spots, and it's all very exhilarating! Walking along the waterfront boardwalk, the route can follow North Point, Causeway Bay, Wan Chai, Central, Sai Wan, and Sai Ying Pun. 1. Accommodation budget: The hotel rooms in the Central area are smaller, but the location is excellent. Generally, a four-star hotel room is about 13 square meters, and the room rate is around 600 yuan, of course, this is the non-weekend price. The room rate for 3 days and 2 nights (including taxes) is about 1300 yuan. 2. Dining budget: There are many restaurants in Hong Kong with different grades, and the most cost-effective ones are the tea restaurants. They are popular even among locals for their affordable prices, good taste, and fresh ingredients. The total ticket budget is 1006 yuan. 4. Transportation budget: The prices for buses and subways in Hong Kong are quite a bit more expensive than in mainland cities. The bus fare from Central to Hong Kong Ocean Park is 10 yuan, the subway (Tung Chung Line to Disneyland Line) to Disneyland is 30 yuan, the fare to the Shenzhen border crossing is 27 yuan, and to Hong Kong International Airport is 33 yuan. Hong Kong has been visited many times, but this time it's particularly different. It was overcast, and for a continuous week, the top of Victoria Peak was mostly shrouded in thick fog, visibility was super low, just to take a few photos, I climbed the mountain for five consecutive days and I admire myself for that, but fortunately, I managed to take some quite satisfying photos (picture six) The spot requires climbing a small hill on the walking trail side. For Monster Building, those shots they took of the super tall buildings are photoshopped, shooting from a low angle, the building is only this tall. The standard way to reach the top of Tai Ping Shan is to take the newly reopened cable car from Admiralty to the peak, but during holidays, there is often a long queue, so most tourists and locals choose to take the No. 15 double-decker bus from Central or Admiralty to the peak. If you sit on the upper deck, you can enjoy the scenery along the way. The most amazing thing is the driver's driving skills, as the road is winding and narrow, and traffic is two-way, but the speed is not too slow. We spent HKD 75 per person for the entrance ticket and arrived at the "Sky Terrace 428" on the top floor of the Peak Tower. This is the perfect spot to enjoy the beautiful Victoria Harbour view. You can overlook the entire harbour day and night from the mountaintop, which will definitely shock your vision... Although I have been to the top of Tai Ping Shan many times, my friend recommended the circular walking path on the mountaintop. Not only is the road flat, but the scenery is also more beautiful. We walked and stopped for two hours, starting from Luji Road and walking to Xiali Road, and then back to the Tai Ping Shan Square. It is indeed a beautiful and gentle path, where you can enjoy a 360-degree view of the beautiful scenery of Hong Kong.
