Okada Museum of Art

The Okada Museum of Art is a private art museum in Hakone that houses oriental art collected by Kazuo Okada, the founder of Universal Entertainment. The museum was formerly a hotel "Kaihua Pavilion" serving Europeans and Americans. Later, Okada built a 5-story art museum on the original site, and displayed private collections of ceramics and ceramics from China, Korea and Japan from ancient times to the present. Many treasures including paintings. The museum is well-known for the original painting of Utagawa Utagawa, a famous Ukiyo-e artist in the Edo period, in his later years, "Snow in the Deep River", which disappeared in 1948. Some people say that this painting is one of the works representing Utagawa's painting career. Unfortunately, because this painting is very precious, it is basically not displayed as a permanent exhibit.
