Chuxiong State Museum was completed and opened in July 1995, covering an area of ​​60 mu, with a usable area of ​​11,200 square meters, including an exhibition hall area of ​​7,000 square meters. It is a local comprehensive museum integrating cultural relics collection, exhibition education, academic research, and cultural tourism. The entire building is laid out against the mountain, with eight main exhibition halls symmetrically along the central axis and long corridors interconnected. The large roof has the charm of an ancient building palace, and is organically combined with the traditional Yi residential buildings such as earthen houses and wood-stacked houses that descend layer by layer. It not only reflects the grandeur of modern architecture, but also highlights the rich Yi architectural characteristics. It is one of the landmark buildings in Chuxiong City. There are orderly halls, animal specimen halls, paleontology halls, historical relics halls, Yi halls, motorized halls 1 and 2, Luojiang Art Museum, and film and television lecture halls, exhibiting more than 6,000 cultural relics of various types, among which the collection and display of paleontological fossils, bronze relics and Yi costumes are unique.
