UK Rail Disruptions & Other Info

Track flooding and bridge damage disrupts routes between Liskeard and Looe

    Period:Tuesday, January 13, 2026 to Friday, January 23, 2026
    Operators:Great Western Railway
Related Information:The line between Liskeard and Looe remains closed following a period of recent heavy rain which flooded the track. The water levels have now dropped and Network Rail have been able to inspect the bridge structures. The results of the investigation have confirmed some damage that will require repair work. This will need to be carried out before the line can be reopened and trains are able to run again. No trains will operate between Liskeard and Looe until at least the end of the day Friday 23 January. Rail replacement transport will run as stated below. Please note, there is no Sunday service on this route. Customer advice: Replacement minibuses will operate at train departure times from Liskeard and Looe. The designated stops for the replacement road transport are as follows: Liskeard - at the front of the station. Sandplace - bus stops by the station entrance. Looe - at the front of the station. If you are travelling to / from Coombe Junction Halt, St Keyne Wishing Well Halt or Causeland please call Great Western Railway customer services on 0345 700 0125, or use the station help point for taxis to be arranged. Additionally, you may use your ticket on Transport for Cornwall bus route 73 between Liskeard and Looe at no extra cost. Additional information: Once the water levels drop again, repair work will be able to begin, and we should then be able to give a more accurate date for the line reopening. Currently we do not expect to run trains until Friday 23 January at the earliest.

Engineering work impacts routes between Brockenhurst and Lymington Pier

    Period:Thursday, January 15, 2026 to Friday, January 23, 2026
    Operators:South Western Railway
Related Information:Urgent repairs have taken place on the line between Brockenhurst and Lymington Pier. Although work has taken place to allow the line to reopen, trains have to run at a reduced speed. As a result, a reduced service is currently in operation between these stations. Network Rail are completing some further emergency engineering work between Brockenhurst and Lymington Pier on both Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 January. Over this weekend, trains will be unable to operate between these stations and will be replaced by rail replacement bus services. From Monday 19 January, the reduced service between these stations will resume and is expected to be in place until the day on Friday 23 February. Customer advice: Initial work has taken place to reopen the line. However, due to the complexity of the issues found, further work is needed to take place and the work is likely to take several weeks to be completed. As a result, trains will be subject to minimal delay while they run at a reduced speed along the line and the service will be reduced to an hourly service in order to minimise disruption. Network Rail need to complete emergency engineering work between Brockenhurst and Lymington Pier on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 January meaning that trains will not be able to run on these days. Rail replacement buses will run every 30 minutes on Saturday, and every 60 minutes on Sunday. Journey Planners will be updated 24 hours in advance.
