Renfe Disabled People Fare

Renfe's discounts for disabled people offer up to 40% off, though you will need to spend €6 on a Tarjeta Dorada, which allows you to travel on AVE, Avant, and Cercanías trains for one year. Please note that the discount on Avant trains is greater on weekends. If you wish to refund or change your ticket, it will depend on the type of ticket chosen and may incur a fee.

Renfe Young Persons Fare

Renfe offers up to 30% off train fares for young people aged 14 to 25 with the Más Renfe Joven Card, which costs €50. The card is valid for a year and is non-transferable. With this scheme, you can enjoy a 30% discount on AVE and AVE International trains, or a 25% discount on Avant, Cercanías, and Rodalies trains.

Renfe Over-60s Fare

Renfe offers up to 40% discounts for those aged over 60 with the Tarjeta Dorada. The card costs €6 for one year, €12 for two years, and €15 for three years. If you are travelling on AVE and AVE international trains, you can get a 25% discount. For Avant trains, discounts vary between weekdays and weekends: during weekdays, you can get a 25% discount, while on weekends, you can receive a 40% discount. Note that all services provided with discounted tickets are the same as those with full-price tickets. The same applies to whether changes and refunds are allowed.

Renfe Spanish Large Families Fare

Renfe provides discounts for large families in Spain, offering 20% for general category families and 50% for special category families on most train services, including AVE (high-speed) and Larga Distancia (long-distance) trains. However, these discounts do not apply to AVE International, Avant, or Cercanías trains. For single-parent families, discounts are valid only on Rodalies trains in Catalonia when using the relevant certificate issued by the Generalitat de Catalunya.

Renfe Group Fare

Renfe offers travel discounts of 8% for groups of four to nine people travelling on AVE or AVE International trains. Groups of 10 to 25 people travelling on AVE, AVE International, Avant, and Cercanías trains can also receive up to a 50% discount. For groups of more than 25 people, you can submit a quote to see if it will be accepted. Please note that all Renfe group tickets are non-changeable. If you need to cancel, the entire booking must be cancelled according to the original ticket's terms and conditions, and a fee will apply.

Onboard Renfe trains from Madrid to Valencia

Renfe's AVE trains offer four service types based on fare options, ensuring convenience for all passengers during their journey. Seating options include Standard for Básico and Elige Estándar tickets, and XL Comfort for Elige Confort and Prémium tickets.

Each AVE train comes with high-speed WiFi, power outlets, and baggage allowance of up to three bags. Standard seats are ideal for regular travelers or budget-conscious passengers, providing a quiet coach for rest, reading, or work. Onboard dining includes a cafeteria and a food trolley.

XL Comfort seats are designed for those who seek higher comfort, featuring wider seats and more legroom. Prémium ticket holders can also enjoy the Premium Menu at their seat and access to snacks and drinks in the station's waiting room.

When traveling from Madrid to Valencia, you can choose one of four fare types, listed from the lowest to the highest price: Básico, Elige Estándar, Elige Confort, and Prémium. Different fares come with different refund and change options.

Elige Estándar

The Elige Estándar fare on AVE trains is a bit pricier than the Básico fare. This ticket option provides the flexibility for refunds (70% of original ticket price) and changes (one free of charge), as well as numerous additional paid services.

Elige Confort

Elige Confort costs a bit more than Elige Estándar. The notable difference is the wider seats and offer more leg room as they are XL Confort seats.

Prémium

The most expensive fare, Prémium, comes with unlimited free changes and refunds, and XL Confort Seating.
