Trip Moments in Xiangyun

Dali is wonderful | But I honestly won't be back

Dali is wonderful | But I honestly won't be back

“Honestly, Dali's beauty truly brings the "Wind, Flower, Snow, and Moon" to life.”@SerendipitysResple · 9 days ago
We absolutely loved our visit to the Chongsheng Temple and Three Pagodas in Dali! 🏯❤️ It ended up being one of our favourite places we visited in the area.

Of course, the famous Three Pagodas are beautiful and impressive, especially with the mountains rising behind them. But what surprised us most was everything that comes after the pagodas. The complex is absolutely huge! As you continue walking uphill, you discover temple after temple, beautiful courtyards, statues, gates and traditional architecture. Every time we thought we had reached the end, there seemed to be another temple waiting for us. 😄

The higher you go, the better the views become. Looking back towards the Three Pagodas, Dali and Erhai Lake with the mountains surrounding you is just incredible. ⛰️ The combination of the scenery and the temples makes the whole place feel very special.

We especially loved the temples themselves. They were peaceful, colourful and beautifully detailed, and it was nice to take our time walking through the different parts of the complex rather than just coming for a quick photo of the pagodas.

Be prepared for quite a bit of walking and plenty of steps, especially if you want to explore all the way to the top! 😅 But it is absolutely worth it.

If you’re visiting Dali, we would definitely recommend giving yourself a few hours here rather than only stopping to see the Three Pagodas. The pagodas might be the famous attraction, but for us the entire temple complex was the real highlight. 🏯✨

My Unplanned Adventure Around Erhai Lake

My Unplanned Adventure Around Erhai Lake

“When I visited Erhai Lake in Dali, I didn't want to plan every hour of my trip.”@halothere · 1 day ago
I dreamed of visiting Dali when I was a child, and now that I'm grown up, I finally had the chance to come~
The Cangshan Mountains are like dark green ink, and the Erhai Lake sparkles—it's as beautiful as an oil painting!
Flocks of seagulls, cruise ships, the endless Erhai Lake, and rice paddies—these are views you just can't find in a big city!

【My food recommendations】
P16 Shannanji: Come to Dali for Yunnan-style stir-fry cooked in small pots. The signature "Red Three-Chopped" (minced pork with tomatoes and chilies) is tangy, spicy, and rich. The minced meat paired with fresh chilies is so fragrant—I ate a whole bowl mixed with rice. The environment, service, and food quality were all incredibly pleasant.
P18 Jiuniang Chickpea Porridge: The porridge has a smooth, soft texture without being too thick. It's topped with plenty of crushed peanuts, giving it a great crunch—so delicious! You can ask for a little less chili; I recommend dipping fried dough sticks in it.

💡Dali tips
▪️Choose Longkan for sunrise, and save Haidong for sunset
▪️Cars cannot enter the West Erhai corridor; if driving, park on the outskirts
▪️The UV rays on the plateau are intense, so don't be lazy with sunscreen
▪️There's a large temperature difference between day and night, so carry a light jacket with you
▪️I don't recommend riding an e-scooter for the entire loop around the lake; know your limits
