When visiting Tainan, one of the must-see attractions is the "Sicao Green Tunnel". Departing from downtown, you can take Bus No. 10 to the Sicao Ecological and Cultural Area.

Hey guys. Just got back from a 3-day trip to Tainan. I’m a uni student from Auckland, so I’m always keen on saving a dollar and doing heaps of walking. Managed to keep the budget around $500 NZD (about ¥2299 equivalent) including food, entries, and local transport.

If you don't mind putting in 20,000+ steps a day, here’s my honest, no-BS guide on what’s actually worth your time.

### Day 1: The Historic Core (Anping & Chihkan)
· **Anping Fort & Chihkan Tower:** Started early at Anping Fort to beat the tour buses. Tickets are cheap (around 70 TWD / $3.50 NZD). If you like history, it's alright. Walked from there to Chihkan Tower—it’s a fair hike but totally doable if you've got decent stamina.
· **Lunch:** Tried the local Danzi noodles. Honestly? Tastes okay, but the portions are tiny. You'll need to eat twice.
· **Confucius Temple & Koxinga Shrine:** Spent the afternoon wandering the stone paths around here. No entry fees for most of the park areas, which is sweet as. Caught the sunset near the shrine.
· **Dinner:** Coffin Bread (fried bread with seafood chowder). High calorie, cheap, and actually pretty good after a full day on your feet.

### Day 2: Nature & The Salt "Mountain"
· **Sicao Green Mangrove Canal:** Took a local bus out here. The mangrove boat ride is a bit touristy but the natural canopy is actually quite cool. Definitely the highlight of the day if you like green spaces.
· **Lunch:** Local beef soup in the food district. Simple, fresh, and cheap.
· **Qigu Salt Mountain:** Took a bus further out. To be frank, it’s just a massive pile of salt covered in grey dust. If you’ve seen actual mountains in NZ, this is not really worth the trip. I'd say skip it and spend more time walking the wetlands instead.

### Day 3: Guanziling Hills
· **Guanziling:** Took a bus out to the hilly area. There are some decent walking trails here and some natural mud hot springs. Much more my pace than the crowded city streets.
· **Food:** Grabbed some local bowl rice cakes (Wa-kuei) before heading back. Heavy, starchy food—perfect recovery meal after walking uphill.

· *Quick Verdict:** Tainan is incredibly cheap and easy to navigate on foot if you've got the legs for it. Skip the overhyped tourist traps like the Salt Mountain and stick to the historic walks and the green spaces.

Any questions about bus routes or costs, drop them below. Cheers.
