Ancient Weir Home of Painting

The Ancient Weir Home of Painting is located on the banks of the Oujiang River in Lishui, Zhejiang. It consists of two major areas facing each other across the river: one side is the "Ancient Weir" where Yantou Village is located, and the other is the "Home of Painting" where Dagangtou Town is situated. The two sides are connected by cruise boats, with the journey taking about 10 minutes. Enjoying the scenic views of the Oujiang River from the boat is itself a highlight of this itinerary. On one side of "Ancient Weir" stands the Tongji Weir, the protagonist built during the Southern Dynasties and operating for over 1,500 years: the arched dam lies across the Songyin Stream, diverting water into canals that traverse the Bihu Plain, still irrigating tens of thousands of acres of fertile farmland today. Together with the Tongji Sluice, the Three-Cave Stone Culvert, and the Ye Channel, it forms a complete ancient water conservancy system. Among them, the Three-Cave Stone Culvert allows the canal and mountain stream to flow separately at different levels, vividly dubbed the ancient "overwater interchange." Stone inscriptions from various dynasties, including the "Tongji Weir Regulations" established by Fan Chengda during the Southern Song Dynasty when he served as the prefect of Chuzhou, still stand beside the weir. Within Yantou Village, the camphor trees planted to stabilize the dam have grown into clusters of thousand-year-old ancient camphors. Walking along the cobblestone country path, the Wenchang Pavilion from the Jiaqing era of the Qing Dynasty, ancient streets, pavilions, and celadon kiln sites are scattered throughout. The "painting village" on the opposite bank has a distinct character: Around the 1980s, artists from various regions gathered in Dagangtou to sketch by the river, gradually forming an oil painting community known as the "Lishui Barbizon." Today, the old riverside street in the town is lined with galleries and art sketching bases. On clear days, you can often see rows of students painting by the Oujiang River with their easels. It's recommended to explore both riverbanks during your visit: take a boat across the river to see the ancient weir, then return to the painting village's old street. The sunset over the Oujiang River is a signature scene here, with occasional white sails gliding by—a sight many photography enthusiasts wait patiently to capture.Lishui · 26.1 km from Yunhe

Yunhe Rice Terraces Scenic Area - Seven-Star Pier is one of the important viewing spots of the YunHe Rice Terraces, famous for its layered terrace views, expansive mountain vistas, and rich natural ecology. It is located among the mountains at a high altitude, offering an overlook of the rolling terraces and surrounding villages, with distinct scenery throughout the four seasons. In spring, the terraces are filled with water, reflecting the sky and creating a magnificent, mirror-like view; in summer, the rice waves roll, and the landscape is lush and green; in autumn, golden rice ears cover the hillsides, making it a season for photography enthusiasts and tourists to enjoy harvest scenes; in winter, shrouded in mist or covered in snow, it reveals a serene and beautiful mountain landscape. The area is equipped with viewing platforms, walking trails, and rest facilities, making it convenient for visitors to admire the terrace views up close and photograph natural beauties such as the sunrise, sea of clouds, and morning mist. When weather conditions are favorable, you can also witness spectacular sights like the churning sea of clouds and sunlight reflecting off the terraces, which are highly worth seeing. The surrounding area preserves the traditional styles of She and Han ethnic villages, where visitors can also experience local folk culture, taste specialty farm-style cuisine, and feel the rich rural atmosphere.Yunhe · 15.4 km from downtown

The ticket price is too expensive; 50 yuan is the most it should be. The Jiuqu Yunhuan Scenic Area is a meticulously crafted terraced field for tourists; it's okay for taking photos. Qixingdun is best viewed from a distance. The Yunhe Terraces can't compare to the Yuanyang Terraces in Yunnan. Just take a casual look.

Baiyin Valley is a combination of valley, ancient village, and stream/waterfall, emphasizing tranquility, simplicity, and a deep sense of wilderness. Streams flow through the village, and in autumn, there are scenes of drying crops, with corn and chili peppers hanging from the eaves. The rustic atmosphere and simple, rustic charm make for great photos.

There were not many people this year. In the morning, I took the cable car from Qixingdun Observation Deck to Jiuqu Cloud Ring, which was very beautiful. The cable car ticket was a bit expensive, 140 yuan per person for a round trip. If you drive, you can drive down the mountain road from Qixingdun, passing the glass tower and Jiuqu Cloud Ring.

Guyan Huaxiang has a quiet atmosphere, and it's quite pleasant to stroll along the river. There aren't many shops, so you can take your time to explore without rushing. A 15-minute round trip boat ride costs 40 yuan per person, which is a decent experience and a nice way to leisurely enjoy the river view.

Qixingdun Scenic Area, one of the core attractions of the Yunhe Rice Terraces, attracts numerous visitors with its unique natural scenery and rich cultural heritage. Below is a comprehensive review of the area: Advantages • Excellent Views: Qixingdun, at an altitude of nearly 1,100 meters, is the highest point of the Yunhe Rice Terraces, offering panoramic views of the entire Silver Valley and the layers of terraced fields. On sunny days, the terraces resemble a vast, boundless Milky Way framed by stars and the moon, creating a truly spectacular sight. • Rich Natural Landscapes: The scenery here changes with each season: spring is vibrant, summer is lush green, autumn is golden, and winter is blanketed in snow. Seas of clouds often linger, and the terraced fields appear to be shrouded in mist, creating a fairyland-like experience. • Rich Cultural Heritage: Qixingdun was originally a place where ancient people observed the stars, prayed to the heavens, and guided their farming. The Yuwang Temple, built in the 26th year of the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty, still remains. It serves as a key site for praying for good fortune during the "Meiyuan Grain in Ear Ploughing Festival," a national intangible cultural heritage, and embodies the local history, culture, and folk customs. • Complete Supporting Facilities: The scenic area features amenities such as a cloud-top coffee shop and a cloud-top swing, allowing visitors to enjoy the scenery while enjoying a cup of coffee or taking photos on the swings, adding to the fun of the experience. Disadvantages • Dining Services Need Improvement: Some visitors reported limited dining options, a mossy taste in the mineral water, and slow service at restaurants, which failed to meet their dining needs. • Disadvantages in Some Facilities: The round-trip cable car ticket for the scenic area is 120 yuan, which some visitors found to be too expensive. Furthermore, the cable car operation can be foggy, impacting the scenic experience. • Poor transportation convenience: Although there is a cable car available, tourists who do not like to take the cable car need to drive or hike. Driving requires passing through the winding mountain road, and tourists who are prone to motion sickness may feel uncomfortable, while hiking is more physically demanding.

The ancient stone villages in Baiyin Valley of Yunhe Terraces are located at an altitude of about 750-800 meters. They are not very commercialized and are suitable for leisurely strolls and taking photos.

Qixingdun Scenic Area is part of the Yunhe Terraces Scenic Area. It is an observation deck on the top of the mountain. Some people set up tents and camp here in summer. It is also a place to watch the sunrise. From here, you can have a panoramic view of the terraces, but it is far away from the terraces and not as clear as the Nine-bend Cloud Ring. From here, you can hike from Baiyin Valley to Kenggen Ancient Village. You can drive up to Qixingdun.

There is absolutely no need to waste time going to this place. It is just an unfinished building. The investment in it is estimated to be quite a lot, but there are no guests going there to play, so there is no business operating properly in it. There are only some homestays here and there. At present, only some people who take photos of ethnic minorities come here. There is no special feature and nothing to visit.
