Things to do in Xinshao

Yueyang Tower, one of the four great ancient towers of my country, stands majestically on the shore of Dongting Lake, inspiring awe in visitors throughout history. Unfortunately, when we arrived in the afternoon, it was raining, and by evening, visibility was poor, greatly diminishing the view.

I hiked from Shuiedi to Gongnong Bridge, a relatively short route that takes about 30-40 minutes. The scenery along the way was beautiful, with four drops. Luckily, I bought a disposable raincoat to cover my lower body, so my pants didn't get too wet, although my upper body and face were partially soaked.

Nice ambient, a bit touristy but less than furong town. Probably one overnight is enough to stay here.

This is a very well-developed scenic area with complete facilities. This time, we hiked up the mountain and took the shuttle bus down. The hike starts from Victory Archway; avoid the visitor center area where you catch the shuttle bus. The route is: Victory Archway → Huayan Lake → Martyrs' Shrine → Banshan Pavilion → Yehou Academy → Tiefo Temple → Nantianmen → Zhurong Peak. What I need to complain about is the poor planning and maintenance of the hiking routes. The signage is not clear enough, some sections can only be accessed via winding mountain roads, and the main hiking trail's halfway point through the rocky forest is poorly maintained. If you're going to charge admission, at least make sure the ancient hiking trails are properly maintained.

The tour guide was professional and reliable, familiar with the local customs and culture of Yangshuo, and provided engaging and entertaining commentary. The itinerary was well-paced, not rushed, and the guide reminded visitors to avoid potential pitfalls. There were no forced purchases throughout the trip, making for a very enjoyable experience!

The scenic area boasts stunning natural beauty, with red rocks and green waters creating a breathtaking contrast. Rock formations like Meili Tan, Longjibei, and Chongtian Yunti showcase the area's incredible artistry. The service is also exceptional; the seating is perfectly chosen, making Gaoyiling a trustworthy destination.

Senior tickets for the evening session are 60 yuan, while adult tickets were 30 yuan (I bought them using my Global Pass benefits). The scenery is similar to Shanghai Romance Park, with different shows at different times, and there are many foreigners. The overall atmosphere is fantastic. Entering at dusk might offer a better experience. I think it's worth seeing since you're already there, with its unique architecture and local culture.

The experience of visiting Wugong Mountain was quite good. The hiking route was of moderate difficulty and not strenuous. The view from the summit was expansive, overlooking vast meadows. The breeze was pleasant and refreshing. There were also ample supply points along the way, so I didn't need to bring too much with me. It was a very relaxing trip.

If you're planning to visit this scenic area, you first need to consider your physical condition. If you struggle to even climb to the ticket gate, my advice is not to climb. Of course, if you're determined, you can manage, but you'll likely have to take a cable car down. I recommend going in the early morning, when tea is at its best. If you go in the afternoon or evening, you'll be exhausted and freezing at the top, and finding accommodation will be a real ordeal. Also, the sea of ​​clouds is often invisible; the overall scenery is best appreciated by an NPC.

Recommended by friends and really enjoyed taking this long but enjoyable boat cruise. Pace was leisurely and u get to see fascinating views while enjoying food and tea onboard.
