The water area of Shuifu Temple Nature Reserve is second to none in the central and eastern Hunan region, with a shoreline of 431 kilometers. Since the shoreline of the reservoir is mostly limestone and shale soil, the vegetation along the shore of the reservoir has recovered quickly after the construction of the reservoir, with less soil erosion and a transparency of 1.75 meters. Swimming in it makes people intoxicated, relaxed, integrated into nature, and cleansed of dust. The main trunk of the reservoir is shaped like the Chinese character "几", like a dragon lying horizontally, with the dragon head facing east, overlooking Changsha, Zhutan, and the dragon tail swinging to Loudi. The reservoir forks are crisscrossed, wide and narrow, and interlaced with each other. The water surface is 3,500 meters wide in the open area and only more than 10 meters wide in the narrow area. The contrast is strong. The large water surface is vast and misty, while the small water surface is gurgling and the water is winding. Each fork has a different scene and each set has its own characteristics. The mountains are stacked along the water, high and low, and continuous. Countless mountain mouths protrude from the water surface. Sometimes the mountains face each other, sometimes block the way, and sometimes the dark willows and flowers are bright, forming a unique landscape of lakes within lakes, mountains outside mountains, mountains and waters, and mountains and waters. There are 34 islands of different sizes embedded in the water, like pearls scattered on the rippling lake. The large ones are dozens of hectares, and the small ones are only a few square meters. The islands are sparsely populated, with good vegetation conditions. Surrounded by clear water, it is like a fairyland on earth.
