Kings Park and Botanic Garden

Kings Park and Botanic Garden

4.6/5
187 reviews
Kings Park and Botanic Garden is situated on Mount Eliza, west of Perth city center, and is adjacent to the University of Western Australia. The approx. 400-hectare park integrates open lawns, the Western Australian Botanic Garden, and vast areas of native bushland, making it one of the few large urban parks in the Southern Hemisphere. The park is elevated, with multiple viewing platforms facing the Perth skyline and the Swan River, making it a perfect spot for panoramic city views and sunset watching, and thus a popular destination for locals to take daily walks and relax. Plants are the stars here. The Western Australian Botanic Garden within the park features a collection of over 3,000 native Western Australian plant species. Among them, the kangaroo paw, the floral emblem of Western Australia, has flower spikes that resemble a kangaroo's front paw, and its red and green coloring makes it easy to spot among the flowers. A treetop walk suspended above the eucalyptus forest allows visitors to stroll at canopy height and overlook the Swan River from above. Every September, when spring is in full bloom in the Southern Hemisphere, the park hosts a decades-old traditional event. Native wildflowers like kangaroo paws and everlastings bloom in vast fields, making it a representative spring wildflower event in Australia. The park also carries deep cultural memories. Before the arrival of Europeans, this hill was an important site for the Noongar Aboriginal people to hold celebrations and gatherings. The park now features an art gallery where you can appreciate local indigenous art. The State War Memorial, located on high ground in the park, commemorates Western Australian soldiers who died in various wars. The Eternal Flame in the plaza burns year-round, and the path leading to the memorial is lined with memorial trees, with plaques honoring the fallen soldiers embedded beneath them. The dawn service for Anzac Day is also held here every year.Kings Park · 14.8 km from Whiteman

The Swan Bell Tower is a bell tower located in the heart of Perth, Australia, and is one of Perth's iconic landmarks. Built to commemorate Western Australia's 150th anniversary, it officially opened to the public in 2009. Visiting the Swan Bell Tower, you can take an elevator to the top of the tower (its six floors), where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the entire Perth city, including Fremantle Harbour, Kings Park, and the Swan River. On a clear day, you can even see the Swan Mountains in the distance. Inside the bell tower is a small museum showcasing the history and culture of Perth and Western Australia. You can learn about the construction of the bell tower and details of Western Australia's 150th anniversary celebrations. Overall, a visit to the Swan Bell Tower is a great way to learn about the history and culture of Perth and Western Australia, while also offering a stunning view of the city.

London Street is an old commercial street. Many of the buildings here have obvious British characteristics, just like being on the streets of London. The whole street is the most lively place in Perth, with cafes and small boutiques everywhere, which is worth a visit.

Northbridge is the Chinatown of Perth. It is actually just a place where Asian restaurants and Asian shops gather. There are also many Western-style bars, restaurants and nightclubs. It is definitely a lively place. I especially like Sumiya Gin, the only authentic Japanese barbecue restaurant in Perth. It is a retro little shop. The charcoal grilled meat, beef tongue and beef are melt-in-your-mouth delicious. There is also the first skewers restaurant, which is also very good.

Perth is the capital of Western Australia and the fourth largest city in Australia. Located in the Mediterranean climate region on the west coast of the Australian continent, the mild climate and the unique scenery along the Swan Lake make Perth a very popular tourist destination.
