Opening in April 2027, The Queen's State Apartments at Kensington Palace will transform into an immersive multi-sensory experience centred around the life of Queen Mary II, with groups gaining insight into her identity, female relationships, and global and colonial connections. Running until November 2027, an audiovisual experience will allow visitors to enter Mary's inner world and imagination in evocative settings. Kensington Palace is located deep within Kensington Gardens in London, a royal palace with over 300 years of history. "The last princess of Punjab: Sophia Duleep Singh and the women in her life" exhibition opened on March 26, 2026 On March 26, 2026, Kensington Palace will launch a new special exhibition "The last princess of Punjab" to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Indian princess and women's suffrage movement pioneer Sophia Duleep Singh. The exhibition focuses on the life trajectories of six royal women—from Maharani Jind Kaur, the last queen of the Sikh Empire, to Sophia's mother Bamba Müller, who struggled in cultural limbo; from Princess Catherine, who secretly sheltered Jewish refugees, to Princess Bamba, who insisted on returning to her homeland, and finally to Queen Victoria, a godmother who was both a protector and a symbol of empire. Their stories sketch a family epic spanning three generations, interwoven with power, legacy, and resistance. The exhibition brings to life the struggles and connections of these women through a series of precious historical artifacts. Among the highlights are tangible evidence of Princess Sophia's involvement in the women's suffrage movement: the original 1913 photograph of her selling "The Suffragette" newspaper in front of Hampton Court Palace, displayed alongside her 1911 census form bearing her handwritten protest "No vote, no census." These two exhibits stand side by side, silently telling how a royal family member transformed power into a weapon of resistance. The story of Maharani Jind Kaur is told through jewelry. Her emerald necklace, once confiscated by the East India Company, is not just an exquisite ornament but also a symbol of the Sikh Empire's glory and downfall. A makara-headed gold bracelet meant to be passed down between mother and daughter was never delivered due to her imprisonment and her young son being sent to England. It was eventually gifted by her son to his bride, becoming a witness to the family's dispersal. Beside these pieces are letters written by Bamba Müller in English and Punjabi, their words revealing the loneliness of transcending cultural identities. The intimate exhibits in the exhibition reveal the emotional world between these women, where behind the elegance lies their complex situation as "imperial subjects" who were both part of and yet alienated from high society. The display of private letters between Princess Catherine and her female companion Lina unveils a profound relationship hidden by history. The archival records of Catherine secretly sheltering Jewish refugees at home after her companion's death demonstrate her courage in transforming personal grief into humanitarian action. Telling this story at Queen Victoria's childhood residence holds special significance. Curator Polly Putnam noted: "This palace has long been a stage for stories of royal women, but this time we're presenting a different narrative—about women profoundly shaped by imperial history yet never defined by it. They rebuilt themselves in a fractured world, finding strength within constraints."London · 22.6 km from Watford

The Natural History Museum is located in LondonSouth Kensington,Adjacent to the science museum and the Victoria and Albert MuseumThe museum displays approx. 70 million exhibits on Earth's history and biological evolution, ranging from samples collected by Darwin during his research on evolutionary theory to Jurassic-era dinosaur fossils, as well as various plant, animal, and geological specimens. Museum introduction The museum's exterior is quite magnificent, with its intricate and exquisite carvings on the outer walls, windows, and interior, which are truly awe-inspiring. The Victorian-style architecture resembles a grand cathedral, earning it the nickname "cathedral of nature." The museum houses 20 large exhibition halls, covering themes such as botany, entomology, mineralogy, paleontology, and zoology. Many of the collections hold great historical and scientific value. Museum facilities The museum exhibitions are highly entertaining, featuring various interactive facilities such as weight-comparison testers, giant fetal models, and hands-on gadgets, making visits both fun and educational for adults and children alike. Additionally, the museum regularly organizes a variety of lecture activities to popularize natural science knowledge. Star exhibits Stepping through the main entrance into the soaring central hall, visitors are greeted by the 20 m-long skeleton of a blue whale named "Hope" suspended overhead. This genuine specimen came from a blue whale stranded in Ireland in 1891. In summer 2017, it replaced "Dippy" - the plaster cast diplodocus skeleton that had guarded the hall since 1905 for nearly forty years, whose departure sparked public petitions to keep it. Now a bronze version of Dippy named "Fern" stands in the museum garden, marking its return in another form. On the left is the museum's highly popular dinosaur exhibition hall, mainly displaying paleontological fossil specimens such as ichthyosaurs, plesiosaurs, the massive Tyrannosaurus rex, the tiny-complexed Scansoriopteryx, the long-tailed pterosaurs, and a complete Archaeopteryx skeleton. On the right are modern animals, including marine invertebrates, fish, birds, and reptiles, with the bird exhibits being particularly outstanding. Above the staircase leading to the second floor in the hall, there is also a statue of Darwin. Second floor of the museum On the second floor, there is a two-story-high mammal exhibition hall, where the most eye-catching features are the giant whale skeletons and models suspended in the air, including a particularly striking model of a Blue Whale. The displays of African savanna animals and Australian marsupials are also impressive. Additionally, there are exhibition halls for minerals, rocks, gems, and marble, where you can see the Delhi Purple Sapphire, a prized museum artifact that was sealed away for decades before being publicly displayed again. This gem is said to carry a "curse," as its successive owners allegedly suffered disasters or sudden misfortunes. From the arched bridge in the middle of the second floor, you can overlook the museum's interior view. The third floor houses exhibits of modern and fossilized plants. Other areas like the Darwin Centre and the Earth Hall are equally fascinating, and a full tour is recommended to take about half a day.London · 23.8 km from Watford

Located on the north side of Regent's Park, London Zoo was founded in 1828 and is a scientific zoo with a history of nearly two hundred years. Within the zoo, numerous historic buildings listed on the English Heritage register coexist alongside modern animal exhibits. Strolling through the grounds, visitors can both experience the architectural charm of the Victorian era and observe wildlife from around the world up close. Tiger territory is one of the park's most notable exhibits, home to Sumatran tigers, where visitors can watch these endangered felines through glass viewing panels. Lion territory centers on Asiatic lions, with the exhibit recreating the village and forest landscapes of Gujarat, India, telling the conservation story of Asiatic lions in an immersive setting. Penguin beach is another popular photo spot, where flocks of Humboldt penguins dart through the water, and visitors can admire their diving and playful postures through large underwater viewing windows. Enter the African exhibit, where giraffes stroll leisurely across open grounds and visitors can observe them up close from different angles. The lemur exhibit recreates the ecological environment of Madagascar's scrub forests, with ring-tailed lemurs leaping among the branches, and visitors can step inside for close encounters with them. Gorilla Kingdom brings the African rainforest to London, showcasing the daily life of a western lowland gorilla troop. In the animal adventure zone designed specifically for children, little ones can interact with farm animals such as pygmy goats, and keepers share animal stories with visitors, making it a great experience for family-friendly outings. △Step into Africa and observe the elegance of giraffes. △Photograph the beautiful birds in the zoo. △Enter Madagascar and observe the adorable lemurs up close.London · 22.4 km from Watford

Hyde Park

Hyde Park is located to the northwest of Buckingham Palace and is one of the major royal parks in central London. The park features lush trees and an expansive lake, which is divided into two sections by the Serpentine. The west side of the lake connects to Kensington Gardens. When the weather is nice, many Londoners come here to run, cycle, or walk. The park has dedicated cycling paths, and you can also rent a bicycle for a leisurely tour. The main entrance on the southeast side of the park features Wellington Arch, and a short walk west from there leads to the Serpentine. Swans swim leisurely in the lake, pigeons and birds fly over the water from time to time, and squirrels are often seen on the lawns. Walking west along the south bank of the Serpentine, you can see the Diana Memorial Fountain—it is shaped like an undulating oval granite water channel, resembling a necklace lying on the green space. The shallow water flows continuously, passing through different water features such as waterfalls, whirlpools, and bubbling springs, where visitors can wade and play. Marble Arch on the northeast side of the park is another entrance, and the nearby Speakers' Corner is a well-known public forum in London where people are allowed to give speeches on the street. The park is also dotted with various commemorative sculptures and bridleways—this sandy horse track is about 1.4 km long, and you can occasionally see horse trainers leading horses by, which is a unique sight in central London.London · 23.5 km from Watford

Kensington Palace, located west of Kensington Gardens, is Princess Diana's former residence. Even today, people still lay flowers in remembrance in front of the palace. The State Apartments are partially open to the public.

Unable to leave the West End musical *The Phantom of the Opera* in London's West End with a peaceful feeling. Finally seated in the middle of the first floor of the theater for *The Phantom of the Opera*, I felt instantly immersed in the atmosphere even before the show began. The performance was breathtaking, with its ever-changing plot and scenes, stunning stage design and props, and captivating performances. It's definitely a world-class musical worth seeing! When the giant chandelier crashed down, and *The Music of the Night* began, I was instantly transported to the dark, shadowy world beneath the Paris Opera House. The Phantom isn't just a villain; he's a musical genius abandoned by the world, pursuing love and ideals with an almost obsessive passion. Love isn't about imprisonment or possession; letting go is the ultimate tenderness. Behind the mask lies a lonely, broken soul. The Curtain Call was met with thunderous applause. This is the West End's never-ending Gothic romantic tragedy. #WestEndLondon #PhantomOfTheOpera #Musical

Traveling with a family member who had just undergone surgery, I initially thought staying in a hotel would be somewhat compromised, but I was completely moved by the thoughtfulness hidden in the details. True quality is revealed in the small things; meticulous service embodies the highest level of hospitality. During check-in, the staff noticed my family member's mobility issues and, without us even asking, proactively moved the room to the closest position to the elevator. They had already padded all the sharp table corners, laid two layers of non-slip mats in the bathroom, and ensured the handrails were at the perfect height for my elderly relative to get up. Throughout the trip, they didn't explicitly emphasize "what we did for you," yet they always appeared when needed: when my family member wanted warm porridge, the kitchen quickly brought out a bowl of perfectly cooked, soft millet porridge, the temperature just right; upon returning from a walk, we found a lightweight folding wheelchair at the door. There was no unnecessary sales pitch, no excessive intrusion. This just-right sense of proportion is the highest form of gentleness and respect; this unassuming care is more reassuring than any deliberate enthusiasm.

I’d recommend visiting the zoo in the late afternoon, closer to feeding time, as you may have a better chance of seeing more animals active and moving around rather than sleeping. We had no luck spotting the tiger at 1:30 pm, but at around 3:30 pm, we were lucky enough to see the lions, giraffes and zebras out and about! The penguin zone was also a highlight and definitely worth a visit. One more tip about tickets: Buying tickets through Trip.com can be a little tricky. We had to visit the ticketing office to register, rather than simply scanning a QR code and joining the shorter queue. I’d therefore recommend purchasing tickets directly from the zoo’s official website. It should make the check-in process much quicker and smoother, saving you time at the entrance!

Hyde Park is one of London’s most iconic green spaces and a wonderful place to relax in the heart of the city. The park offers beautiful walking paths, open lawns, scenic gardens, and the famous Serpentine Lake, creating a peaceful escape from the busy streets nearby. I enjoyed strolling through the tree-lined avenues, watching people paddle on the lake, and taking in the tranquil atmosphere. Whether you want to have a picnic, go for a jog, enjoy outdoor events, or simply unwind, Hyde Park provides something for everyone and remains one of London’s most beloved attractions.
