Roussillon is a small town famous for its ochre landscape and traditional village style. It is built into the mountainside, with houses scattered along the hills. The exterior walls of the buildings display rich hues of red, orange, yellow, and ochre, forming a sharp contrast with the surrounding green vegetation. The unique local colors come from the nearby rich ochre deposits. This natural mineral has long been used for pigment production and has also shaped the distinct regional character. The streets here are narrow and winding, with cobblestone paths connecting traditional residences, small squares, cafes, galleries, and handicraft shops, retaining a strong rural atmosphere of Provence.Roussillon · 66m from downtown

Avignon Cathedral is situated on a rocky plateau overlooking the Rhône River and is an important local religious building and historical landmark. Its history dates back to the 12th century, and the main structure is Romanesque in style, featuring thick stone walls, rounded arches, and a simple, solemn facade. Unlike many cathedrals in France known for their Gothic spires, the overall silhouette of this building is more understated, reflecting the style of medieval religious architecture in the Provence region. The interior features religious sculptures, paintings, altars, and decorative details, creating a solemn and dignified atmosphere, while also preserving traces of renovations and artistic developments from different periods.Avignon · 299m from downtown

Fontaine-de-Vaucluse is located in the Vaucluse department of southern France. The department takes its name from the Vaucluse Spring, which boasts the most abundant flow of any spring in the region. As the fifth-largest spring in the world, it has an annual flow exceeding 600 million cubic meters. The abundant spring water converges in the west of the town into a clear stream that winds through the entire town. With hundreds of houses built along the riverbanks, it forms an idyllic summer retreat. Even in the sweltering heat of summer, breathing in the moist air and listening to the babbling water will leave you feeling refreshed. If you crouch down to take a sip of the spring water, you will experience a crispness far superior to Evian mineral water. The history of this town dates back to the 6th century. Every midsummer, tens of thousands of visitors flock here, eager to witness one of the largest springs in France with their own eyes. The main dining area is situated where the stream is widest and offers the best views. Ordering a coffee or a glass of wine here and dozing off beside the clear spring water makes for a precious, leisurely memory.Fontaine-de-Vaucluse · 52m from downtown

The town of Sault retains some medieval alleys and features beautiful old shop windows dating back to 1515. A market is held here every Wednesday morning. The region is also famous for its lavender, but due to its high altitude, the flowering season is relatively late, and you can generally still see purple lavender in August. It also hosts a famous lavender festival every year on August 15.Sault · 91m from downtown

The Luberon Regional Natural Park, dotted with lavender fields and hill towns, embodies all the splendor of Provence. The park is dotted with picturesque towns like the stone town of Gordes, the red-earth town of Roussillon, and Ménerbes. The ochre-hued landscapes of Roussillon and Rustrel create a unique local landscape, while l'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue captivates visitors with its floating markets and renowned antique dealers. Apt, renowned for its Provençal markets, and Forcalquier, the comtale of the counts in Haute-Provence, add a touch of color to this traditional landscape. The nature park is also a great place for hiking, with winding paths passing through vineyards, orchards, and unspoiled countryside. Visitors can also tour the area's numerous castles and abbeys, such as the Abbey of Sénanque, surrounded by lavender fields. The Rock Park is located on the top of the left bank of the Rhone River in the urban area. It is part of the old city wall and the fortress behind the Pope's Palace. It was opened in the 17th century and has both English and French styles. Now it is open to the public for free as a park. The park has a terrace overlooking the Rhone River. The viewing platform at the back of the park overlooks the old city and the new city of Avignon, and the viewing platform at the front can see the Broken Bridge. In the park, the rockery is very delicate, and it is a leisure outdoor place often visited by local citizens.Avignon · 427m from downtown

The area where the Campanile Square is located is the center of the medieval city, and there is an old Benedictine Abbey of St. Lawrence on the square. In 1471, the town hall installed a clock for this purpose. Abandoned during the French Revolution, the Abbey of St. Lawrence was razed to the ground in 1823. In addition to the rows of plane trees and romantic open-air cafe restaurants, there are also ice cream parlors, carousel horses, City Hall and Opera House on the Bell Tower Square, so you can sip mellow coffee while drinking The gothic clock tower of the 14th and 15th centuries of the city hall is very relaxing and comfortable.Avignon · 54m from downtown

In the 14th century, the Pope's Palace was crowded with houses, and after the 15th century these houses and winding streets were razed and opened into long and narrow squares. Since many tourists come to visit here, it is very lively. There are buskers performing in the square many times, which looks very interesting. Don't miss the shops around, there are many cheap delicacies to taste.Avignon · 218m from downtown

Perched on an ocher cliff, Roussillon exudes unparalleled charm. Walk through its sloping alleys and admire the beautiful houses, colorful facades, the remains of the city walls, and the bell towers and Romanesque churches. Not to mention the view of the ocher cliffs which are of course beautiful. Other villages are worth visiting as well. The perched village of Bonnieux, with its panoramic views of the Petite Luberon and the Vaucluse Mountains, its beautiful heritage is represented by a church in a mixed Romanesque and Gothic style, as well as the remains of medieval towers and ramparts. La Tour-D'Aigues is located on the banks of a small river and will take you to discover its alleys, Renaissance castle or churches. The village of Lacoste is dominated by its majestic castle, which once belonged to the Marquis de Sade and now hosts a festival dedicated to theatre, dance and opera every summer. Another perched village, Oppède-le-Vieux also has a very beautiful heritage: the ruins of a medieval castle, old houses dating back to the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, the collegiate church of the twelfth century, washhouses. Roussillon is a historic region in southwestern France, nestled in the northern foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains. Historically part of Catalonia, it roughly corresponds to the present-day Occitanie department of the Occitanie region, with the Aude department often included within its boundaries. The area is characterized by its unique red clay cliffs, formed by the rich ochre-rich soils of the surrounding area, displaying shades of yellow, orange, and red. Many of the village's buildings are constructed using locally sourced red and yellow clay, earning it the nickname "Red Cities." Local legends tell of the origin of the red clay and a love story. In 1659, the Treaty of the Pyrenees between France and Spain ceded Roussillon to France. The region was renowned for its ochre deposits, and artisanal mining flourished from the late 18th century, with ochre pigments exported worldwide. By the late 20th century, due to soil erosion caused by long-term mining, the area was designated a national nature reserve, prohibiting industrial mining. Roussillon is also a wine region, producing geographically designated wines such as Côtes du Roussillon. The wine industry in this region is managed by relevant industry associations, and in 2011, the Chinese translation of the region's wines was "露喜龙" (Lu Xi Long). Since the early 1980s, tourism has gradually replaced mining.

Avignon Cathedral is located next to the Papal Palace, and it's a simple Romanesque building. The statue of the Virgin Mary on the top of the bell tower is very conspicuous and can be seen from anywhere in the city. The interior of the cathedral is not large, with soft light from the stained glass windows and some faded murals on the walls. It's quite quiet inside, and you can hear the sounds of tourists coming from the Papal Palace square next door, but it still has the tranquility of an old church.

Quanshui Town is also a very beautiful place. You can see many artificially cultivated things in the town. This place is close to the old town of Seonnes, which is also a very popular city. The scale of Quanshui Town is also quite large.

The lavender in Sault is in full bloom, but the lavender here is shorter, only ankle-high. The lavender here is wild, so if you want to buy essential oils, the purity here is higher.

It is a very beautiful and unique little bay. The azure blue water, white waves, and various strange stones form a beautiful picture... Groups of tourists and couples come here to take pictures, play games, relax, and enjoy the gift of nature...

My deepest impression of this place is that I passed by "Horloge" when I was riding on the minibus. I didn't visit this place specifically on weekdays, but there are still many places for shopping. There is a market next to it, and there are also many foods. There are also many activities on weekdays!

The Papal Palace is an impressive ancient palace. It is not only the palace of the Pope, but also a fortress. During the 14th century, it was the seat of the Catholic Church. Standing at the highest point of the ancient city, it looks down on its jurisdiction with a domineering attitude.
