This cannot be exchanged for a JR Pass at self-service machines; it must be done manually at a designated station service center. However, after exchanging it, it's quite convenient to reserve a reserved seat at the machine using the QR code on the pass. The only downside is that it doesn't include free rides on the Nozomi and Mizuho Shinkansen lines. This means that for long-distance travel on the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines, you're limited to the less frequent Hikari and the Kodama, which stops at every station, wasting a lot of time.★

I purchased the JR Tokyo Wide Pass (3-day e-ticket) this time, and the overall experience was excellent. The e-ticket redemption process was simple; I could quickly exchange it at the designated counter upon arrival in Japan, without needing to mail the ticket in advance, which was very convenient.
The pass covers a wide area, including popular destinations like Karuizawa, Lake Kawaguchi, Nikko, and Echigo-Yuzawa. A few Shinkansen rides are enough to recoup the cost, making it perfect for short trips to the suburbs. You almost never need to buy additional tickets for JR trains, saving considerable time and making your itinerary more flexible.
If you're planning a 2-3 day trip to the suburbs during your Tokyo visit, I highly recommend this pass. It offers great value, is easy to use, and definitely worth considering!★

There's a small exchange room near the Yaesu Exit of Tokyo Station; it's a bit hard to find, but the exchange process is smooth. It's with JR East, not Tokai; make sure you get the company right. A round trip to Aomori will break even, and you can then go to smaller towns like Hachinohe and Morioka. You can also ride the JR trains freely throughout Tokyo. It's good value for money.★

I'd give this JR Pass a 99 out of 100. It covered 6 days across Sendai, Aomori, Hakodate, and Lake Tazawa (Akita), saving me half the cost. The only drawback is that there's no ticket exchange at Sendai Airport, meaning I had to buy a ticket for the airport line.★

After landing at the airport and clearing customs, I went straight to the manual counter in Terminal 1 to exchange my tickets and pick up the remaining travel tickets. I thought it would be troublesome, but it went very smoothly.
