The East Japan 10-Day Pass covers a wide area. From Tokyo to Aomori, the Shinkansen takes three to four hours, a long distance. Then, I traveled through Sendai, Matsushima, Fukushima, Omiya, Karuizawa, and Kawagoe Ichiban-gai. From Tokyo to the airport, it's very cost-effective. The JR buses in Aomori provide good connections between attractions, so I basically didn't need to buy additional bus tickets during my trip. Recommended.

I'd give this JR Pass a 99 out of 100. It covered 6 days across Sendai, Aomori, Hakodate, and Lake Tazawa (Akita), saving me half the cost. The only drawback is that there's no ticket exchange at Sendai Airport, meaning I had to buy a ticket for the airport line.

After landing at the airport and clearing customs, I went straight to the manual counter in Terminal 1 to exchange my tickets and pick up the remaining travel tickets. I thought it would be troublesome, but it went very smoothly.

Redeeming tickets is smooth and simple; you can exchange them for physical tickets at the airport's automatic ticket machines! You can reserve two reserved seats on the Haruka Limited Express, making round trips between the airport and Kyoto/Osaka extremely convenient. While limited to Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe, and Nara, a 5-day wide-area tour is recommended for those wanting to travel further afield.

While the QR code version is convenient, the lack of a dedicated app means you often have to log in again the next day, and even after logging in with your Apple account, it's still very laggy. Furthermore, at Hikone Station, renting free bicycles was difficult because the vendors weren't familiar with the new tickets, making it impossible to get the free rental discount. Due to time constraints and internet issues, I gave up and took the bus directly to Hikone Castle. It's recommended that travelers download the Japanese user manual on their phones before using it.


