Niutou Mountain National Forest Park

Niutou Mountain National Forest Park is located 60 km outside Wuyi. Known as the "Little Jiuzhaigou of Jiangnan," it features steep cliffs, streams, and emerald pools, offering some scenic charm—though it falls slightly short compared to Jiuzhaigou. Due to limited public transport, most visitors arrive by car, so crowds are never too large. From the main gate to the core scenic area is about a 5 km drive. Visitors can drive to the parking lot at the mountain base, or take one of the three daily free shuttle buses running round-trip between the main gate and the parking lot. Nearby the parking lot are a restaurant and Shanli Renjia Hotel, while the hot spring hotel near the entrance offers better amenities, including hot spring baths—ideal for an overnight stay if time allows. To the left of the parking lot is the trail leading to Wangniufeng Peak in the back mountain. If arriving in the afternoon and staying overnight, consider hiking here, soaking in the hot springs at night, and exploring the main attractions the next day: heading right to Shimen Gorge entrance, climbing Tianshi Peak, visiting Tianshi Temple, and crossing the Golden Lock Bridge. From Shimen Gorge entrance past Yuxian Lake to Qixi Bridge, the path is mostly straightforward, with clear pools and streams along the way, making for a pleasant walk. Beyond Qixi Bridge is a fork—both routes lead up to Tianshi Peak and Tianshi Temple, with one for ascending and the other descending. The left path features a thrilling cliffside boardwalk leading to the Golden Lock Bridge. Continuing past a narrow cliff passage ("One-Line Sky") brings you to the peak and Tianshi Temple. The boardwalk clings dramatically to the mountainside, offering sweeping views of the Golden Lock Bridge spanning two cliffs and the imposing Tianshi Peak—a spectacular photo spot. Though the bridge looks daunting, it's sturdy and safe to cross. The steep One-Line Sky climb is challenging, but the panoramic summit views make it worthwhile. Tianshi Temple at the top allows for blessings (possibly at an extra fee). The ascent takes about 2 hours and is tiring, but the descent is gentler, taking just over an hour back to Qixi Bridge. Restrooms are available on the mountain, but shops are scarce, so bring water and snacks. Near the park entrance, Shenniu Gorge Rafting (¥128/person, for reference) is a thrilling summer activity—3 km of fast-flowing rapids through deep gorges. Rafting usually starts around 1 PM, so it's best to hike in the morning and raft in the afternoon.

Well, this place is okay for bringing kids. You can go rafting, there are hot springs, and you can collect rocks and minerals – it's quite fun. The 200-meter underground space, with all sorts of lights, makes for great photos. However, the price is a bit high and not very good value. You need to bring your own swimsuit for the hot springs.

You could easily spend half a day there. There are rice terraces to see, and supposedly if you come early in the morning, you can see a sea of clouds (we didn't see it). Unfortunately, we left around noon, around 1 or 2 pm, and many of the restaurants near the entrance were already closed.

My child has been thinking about going there for two years, and this time he finally went there by car. It was very novel. He was able to see the history and scenes of ancient gold mining, and finally experienced the mine train. Before leaving, he played a gold panning game, which the child loved.

The scenery is beautiful and full of Zen. Along the way, there are small bridges and flowing water, golden Dharma wheels, and the Eighteen Arhats. Finally, we arrived at the Future Temple and saw the Smiling Buddha, which made us feel enlightened!

Wuyi Niutou Mountain is perfect for a weekend family hike to escape the summer heat! The mountains are lush and green, and the temperature is much cooler than in the city. Streams murmur, and the air is incredibly fresh. We chose to hike up and take the cable car down, a perfect pace that wasn't too tiring. The "One Line Sky" is particularly unique, and the boardwalk offers expansive mountain views with stunning vistas. The high forest coverage and lush greenery, combined with the relatively low crowds, made for a comfortable hike. The trails are well-maintained, allowing children to enjoy the natural scenery and connect with nature. Highly recommended for a short trip around the Jiangsu and Zhejiang area!

The whole journey is estimated to be 1.5 hours. It is a very good rafting experience. The first half of the Warrior Raft is more exciting. The second half of the Eco-Lele Ticket is relatively gentle. However, the scenery along the coast is very charming. The water quality is good. It is a good place to play in the water in summer. Children like it very much.

When Shenlong Valley was just opened 20 years ago, I visited it for work. Time flies, and 20 years have passed in a flash. Recently, I bought a Zhejiang tourism card online, and one of the attractions on it is Shenlong Valley, so we want to revisit it in our spare time. Self-driving is very convenient, but there are many bends and you need an experienced driver. We have more free time, so we didn't drive ourselves. Take the train from Shanghai to Suichang Station. There is a bus that goes directly to Suichang Bus Station for 2 yuan, and then there is a bus from the bus station to Shenlong Valley. There are 15 homestays at the entrance of Shenlong Valley Scenic Area. We stayed in Shenlong Villa, which is the same company as Shenlong Valley Scenic Area. The staff of Shenlong Valley Scenic Area are very simple, kind and enthusiastic. In the past, we went in from the upper door and walked down. Now the upper part is under renovation, so the shuttle bus drove to the bottom of the mountain, walked up, and then returned to pick everyone up to the hotel on the mountain. The whole tour took no more than 1.5 hours and was not tiring. Moreover, 95% of it was flat, without stairs, so the elderly were not afraid... We went in during the off-season, just the two of us Because we had to catch the bus, we didn't ask them to send us to the restaurant above, and we ate the staff meal with them. The uncle who accompanied us on the mountain tour told us that Shenlong Valley was very lively 10 years ago. Now, because there are too many attractions in Suichang, there are fewer people coming to Shenlong Valley. Some people are also afraid that it is tiring to climb the car without a cable car, but it is really not tiring. It is much easier than the Nanjian Rock the day before. Walking out of the dense forest and seeing a waterfall, I was refreshed. This waterfall is also spectacular. It really looks like a dragon. I hope more people will come to play. After visiting many tourist attractions, what attracted us was not the scenery, but the humanities. I want to say it again that the local people are really very simple. The uncles in the scenic area took us to the scenic area and had a working meal with us. They asked us if we were used to the food and asked us to eat more. We had to catch the bus, so they also sent us to the station. I really appreciate it here...

After visiting Yangjiatang Village, on the way back to the hotel, we made a special trip to Chenjiapu Village, known as "a utopia atop the clouds, an ancient village on a cliff." There's a Librairie Avant-Garde bookstore there, which is also quite nice.

Dushan Ancient Village is located in the west of Suichang, surrounded by towering mountains, with a solitary peak in front of the village and a slow stream outside the village. There are typical buildings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties here, including the ancient streets, houses, stone archways, gates and walls, forming a simple mountain life atmosphere, continuing and preserving the historical and cultural context of the ancient village. ▼🌟Warehouse ruins🌟 When you enter the village, the first thing you see is a huge ancient house, which is made of local yellow mud and has high walls. The outer walls are tall and rough. The wind and fire walls of the pink walls and black tiles next door are still majestic even though they are mottled and falling off! ▼🌟Ye Family Ancestral Hall🌟 You can see this ancestral hall by going further inside. According to local people, it was used for sacrifices in the village in the past, but it is less used now. There is a stage inside, and everyone comes here to listen to operas during the Chinese New Year. There are two large stone lions outside the ancestral hall. Although they have been corroded after thousands of years, you can still see that the lions have fierce expressions. ▼🌟Pebble-stone dwellings🌟 The wall foundation built with pebbles is the architectural feature of Dushan Village. There seems to be no bonding material between the pebbles, but they are still so solid, showing the wisdom and aesthetics of the Dushan people of all generations, and recording countless stories in the mountain village. ▼🌟Longqing Year Three Stone Archway🌟 The stone archway has flying eaves and corners, which is spectacular. The four characters "洊盈天宠" are engraved in the middle. We stood under the stone archway and sighed: this small village hidden in the mountains is shining because of Ye Yifan.

A very beautiful tea garden, quite large, and also the largest cycling tea garden in China. You can rent bicycles and mountain bikes at the entrance of the scenic area, or take a sightseeing bus to enter. There is also an artificial lake in the center of the tea garden, and a tea house with a good environment. The air is fresh.
