Lion & Safari Park is located in the suburbs of Hartbeespoort, South Africa, and is a popular wildlife destination around Johannesburg and Pretoria. The park features vast grasslands and a natural ecological environment. Upon entering, the expansive African savanna landscape is impressive, with large stretches of golden grass interspersed with low shrubs, and rolling hills occasionally visible in the distance, presenting a typical Southern African natural landscape. The park focuses on wildlife viewing, with the various predator activity areas being a representative natural feature. Lions are the stars here. Visitors can enter designated areas in their own vehicles or on safari trucks provided by the park to observe lion prides at close range in a relatively natural environment. In the sunlight, lions sometimes lie lazily on the grass to rest, or slowly pace around to patrol their territory; the thick manes and majestic figures of the male lions are particularly striking.Hartbeespoort · 12.9 km from Sterkfontein DMA

The Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve is located in the West Rand region of Gauteng Province, South Africa, adjacent to the Sterkfontein paleontological site complex. This reserve, where semi-arid grasslands and rock formations interweave, focuses on the protection of white rhinoceros and African lion populations, while also taking into account the maintenance of habitats for a variety of native wild animals and plants. Visitors can take reinforced vehicles along fixed routes to observe the natural behavior of animals, and professional guides will explain the operating laws of the grassland ecosystem. An open-air viewing platform is set up during dawn and dusk to facilitate the filming of wildebeest migration or raptor predation. Short hiking routes are planned in the reserve, and you may encounter zebra and antelope populations when crossing the acacia forest. Simple ecological camps provide basic accommodation facilities, and you can listen to the grassland soundscape at night. This area and the surrounding cave sites form a complementary experience of nature and humanity, suitable for travelers interested in wildlife protection and geological history. There is a small visitor center at the main entrance, which displays local ecological protection measures and popular science content about animal behavior.Sterkfontein DMA · 5.7 km from downtown

Cradle of Humankind is one of South Africa's eight World Heritage Sites. The area is dotted with complex underground limestone caves, rich in fossil remains, serving as a model for studying human evolution—a priceless treasure! Based on archaeological research, the "Out of Africa" theory can be inferred—it is estimated that human ancestors share the same roots and all come from the same place: Africa. In the early 20th century, fossils of early humans and animals that later evolved into humans (dating back millions of years) were discovered in the Sterkfontein limestone caves in this region. Cradle of Humankind is considered a well-preserved World Heritage Site. The area has maintained its natural state, with almost no development. Here, you can explore the fossil-rich Sterkfontein Caves, Swartkrans site, and Kromdraai site, and trace what the Earth looked like two to three million years ago when our human ancestors were evolving.Sterkfontein DMA · 4 km from downtown

We visited wildlife parks near Johannesburg, the most famous of which was the Lion Park. There are many wildlife parks in South Africa, and the types of wild animals are also very complete. However, there are some problems with the security in Johannesburg, so we need to be vigilant.

Beautiful animals at this nature preserve. A must see for any SA traveler. Take a drive through the safari and witness wild African dogs, white and brown lions and various buck and rhino in their natural habitat. Then, enjoy a relaxing meal and drink at the Boma Restaurant before visiting the kiosk and seeing more various animals such as white tigers, cheetah and jaguars. Will definitely visit again!

it's really a nice and safe place for hiking. We spent the whole day there.Tips: they have variety of snacks but if you are hungry the only thing that is filling is the pie and they have drinks too. of course it's pricier than at any outside average stores.
