Tungeneset is a viewpoint on Senja known for its magnificent natural views. It is located on a headland between Steinfjord and Ersfjord, facing the Atlantic Ocean, with an open and spectacular view of the jagged silhouette of the Okshornan peaks to the north. To facilitate viewing, a Siberian larch boardwalk winds along the coastline, leading directly to a rock platform by the sea. This boardwalk not only protects the local vegetation and ecosystem but also provides a safe and comfortable path for visitors. Strolling along the boardwalk, visitors can feel the sea breeze and listen to the sound of waves crashing against the rocks.Senja · 4.1 km from downtown
Segla

Segla

3.9
Segla is one of the most iconic peaks on the island of Senja, Norway, standing at an altitude of 639m. It is renowned for its steep vertical cliff face that drops directly into the sea and is hailed as one of the most spectacular peaks in Norway. The mountain's conical silhouette, plunging directly into Mefjord, is incredibly dramatic, making it one of the most photogenic natural landmarks in Northern Norway and highly renowned among photographers. The trail to the summit starts from the village of Fjordgård. It involves an ascent of about 600m. The route is clear but steep, requiring a certain level of physical fitness, and usually takes 2–3 hours to reach the summit. From the summit, you can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of the Senja fjords, island chains, and the open sea, which is breathtakingly vast. In summer, the midnight sun paints the mountains and fjords in golden-red hues, making for an unforgettable hiking experience during the polar day.Senja · 14.5 km from downtown

Ersfjord Beach is one of the most visually striking natural attractions on the Senja National Scenic Route in Norway, renowned for its combination of white sandy beaches, crystal-clear blue bays, and towering, steep mountains in the background, making it hard to believe this scenery is near the Arctic Circle. During the summer polar day, the continuous soft light paints the mountains and bays in dreamy golden tones, with the white sandy beach contrasting against the deep blue bay, creating an otherworldly landscape. By the seaside, there is also a golden toilet building that has become a topic of conversation due to its peculiar shape, serving as an unconventional photo spot on the beach. In winter, this is a popular location for viewing the aurora borealis, with the lights dancing above the open fjord and reflecting on the water, creating a spectacular sight. The surrounding area offers multiple hiking trails leading to peaks such as Segla and Hesten, making it an excellent base for an in-depth exploration of the natural beauty of Senja.Berg · 6.6 km from Senja

Sommarøyis a small fishing island in Northern Norway, located within the Arctic Circle. It sits at the mouth of a fjord west of Tromso, and you can reach the island by driving about 1 hour from downtown Tromso and crossing the bridge. The island is famous for its unique relationship with time: from mid-May to late July, it experiences the polar day, where the sun does not set for over 2 months; from late November to mid-January of the following year, the sun barely rises at all. The island's natural scenery is equally stunning: fine white sand beaches paired with clear, turquoise waters have led many travelers to call it the "Caribbean of the North." Standing on the beach, you can also look out at the sharp Håja island in the sea; it is said that the design of the Arctic Cathedral in Tromso was inspired by it. Summer is perfect for strolling on the beach under the midnight sun or going kayaking; in winter, the low light pollution makes it a great place to view the aurora around Tromso.Sommaroy · 35 km from Senja

Arctic Cathedralis located in Tromso, Norway, situated on the mainland side across the strait from the city center. Completed in 1965, it was designed by architect Jan Inge Hovig. The roof on both sides is composed of multiple layers of aluminum-coated concrete panels, with a mountain-like silhouette that rises from the entrance toward the altar. From a distance, it resembles layered ice peaks or raised white sails, and some also describe it as looking like the aurora curtains. Its Norwegian display name means "Arctic Ocean Cathedral." Although it is actually a parish church, it has become a highly recognizable city symbol of Tromso due to this unique design.Tromsdalen · 70.6 km from Senja
Nusfjord - Historical Fishing Village

Nusfjord - Historical Fishing Village

5.4
Nusfjord - Historical Fishing Village is a rare example of an old fishing village in the archipelago that has been preserved in its entirety, and today the whole village is managed like an open-air museum. Reddish-brown fishermen's cabins stand on wooden piles by the water, while the blacksmith's shop, smokehouse, and old cod liver oil factory have been preserved in their original state. The old general store still maintains its original counters and shelves, and the wooden racks for drying cod by the village continue the tradition of stockfish that dates back to the Viking Age. People have settled here for over two thousand years, and during the peak of the cod season, thousands of fishermen once crowded this bay. Experiences in the village mostly revolve around the fishing port. You can go fishing on a traditional boat with a local captain. The cod you catch can be cleaned on the spot by the captain and even sent to the seafood-focused Karoline restaurant to be cooked for dinner. In the bathhouse, which was converted from an old warehouse by the sea, wood-fired hot tubs and saunas face the ocean. On winter nights, you can soak in the warm water while waiting for the aurora to streak across the sky, and on midsummer nights, you can watch the midnight sun paint the entire bay in gold. The café inside the old general store is famous for its traditional fish soup, and freshly baked waffles and cinnamon rolls with coffee make for an authentic fishing village afternoon tea, while the former whiskey cellar has been converted into an Italian bistro serving pizza and wine.Norway · Nusfjord

Tromsø is the largest city in northern Norway and the largest city within the Arctic Circle. It has the world's northernmost university, brewery and Arctic Cathedral. Take the Fjellheisen cable car to Mount Storsteinen for a bird's eye view of Tromsø.

I've just visited this incredible place during the polar night, and even been with a light light, it was an amazing visit. The small beaches invite you to eat something sitting on the sand while watching the Norwegian Sea.At the village you can find a small supermarket and an electric car charging station.

Tickets were issued quickly. I booked them while queuing at the cable car station and managed to get them just in time before entering the gate. They were much cheaper than buying them on-site – great! The blue hour view from the mountain, the city night view, and the Northern Lights were absolutely stunning!

I went there in autumn. There is no polar day or polar night. The mountains and rivers are beautiful and the air is fresh. It is a good place to relax and unwind. I stayed there for a week. I would recommend everyone who is tired from work to stay in Norway for a week. I didn't live in the city center, but Tromso is so small. The city center, suburbs and airport are all about 15 minutes away by bus. Live slowly and play slowly. In the past, you could see the northern lights as long as it was sunny. Don't get too tired. It is really a good place to absorb energy. If you live by the sea, you will be in a good mood as soon as you open the window every day. Anyway, it is worth a visit.

Where is the northernmost Catholic church in the world? It's Tromso in Norway. If you don't drive to the church, you can take the bus, but we choose to walk slowly, from the city center harbor, walk along the seaside, then walk up the bridge and go straight to see the church. The church is actually not big, because it was not open when I went, the front is glass, you can look inside, nothing special, then walked around the church, the back is stained glass windows, with white snow, very beautiful.
