This night market is located by the Tonle Sap River. It is mainly engaged in daily necessities and tourist souvenirs. There are many local people. It is a good place to spend time at night. The night market was rebuilt from a street garden. The original grass was changed to a cement tile floor, with an area of about 4,000 to 5,000 square meters, surrounded by iron pipe railings. There are two openings along the street, one goes in and the other goes out, and the entry and exit are fairly orderly. There are multiple rows of colored commercial sheds of uniform specifications, and there are a wide variety of commodities. There are clothing, shoes and hats, flowers, food, hand accessories, cosmetics, daily necessities, as well as a large number of stone carvings, bamboo and wood products, and Buddha statues with Khmer characteristics. Probably more popular with locals than foreigners. Foreign tourists come here to shop and remember to bargain hard, because the price is always raised.Phnom Penh · 2 km from downtown

The Phnom Penh Prison Museum is located in the south of Phnom Penh City, at the intersection of 113th Street and 350th Street. Originally a high school, it was used as a concentration camp for prisoners during the Khmer Rouge period, also called S-21 Prison. More than 17,000 intellectuals, civilians, women and children were imprisoned here, and countless people were tortured to death every day. Until the Hengshanlin regime invaded Phnom Penh in 1979, there were only 14 corpses and 7 survivors left in this concentration camp. Now it is open to the public as a museum, displaying various torture instruments, photos and historical materials, which are creepy and silently tell the tragic history. In addition, documentaries are broadcast every day at 10 am and 3 pm. The film mainly tells the true story of a pair of young lovers who were forced to separate under the historical background at that time and suffered persecution by the Khmer Rouge.Phnom Penh · 1.1 km from downtown

Tonle Sap River

Located in the heart of Cambodia, the Tonle Sap River meets the Mekong River and is the passage between the Tonle Sap Lake and the Mekong River. At the same time, it is also the fourth largest source of freshwater fish in the world. There are more than 150 kinds of fish in the river, and the freshwater resources are very rich. The main reason for the abundance of freshwater resources is due to the unique phenomenon that the Tonle Sap River can "reverse the flow". In the rainy season from June to September every year, due to the melting of snow in the Himalayas, the water level of the Mekong River suddenly increases, causing water to flow into the Tonle Sap River from the Mekong River, reversing the flow of the Tonle Sap River; from October to May the following year , the river flows back to the Mekong River. Around the Tonle Sap River, there are famous scenic spots such as the Royal Palace of Phnom Penh and the National Museum. The scenery is beautiful, and it is very pleasant to walk or rest by the river. There are also various cafes, restaurants and bars on the banks of the river and north of the Royal Palace, where you can immerse yourself in a romantic colonial-style restaurant and enjoy a delicious Western-style meal. An exotic place to go.Phnom Penh · 10.9 km from downtown

Tashan Temple is located on the top of the mountain, about 30 meters high, with a very quiet environment. The temple is full of Khmer-style reliefs, majestic and magnificent. Climbing to the top of the mountain and climbing the tower can overlook the whole city. There is also a touching story about Tashan Temple. According to legend, in the 14th century, a woman named "Ben" picked up a Buddha statue that had drifted down the Mekong River due to flooding. She built the Buddha statue on a hill and built a temple to worship it. Gradually developed into a prosperous town. In the 15th century, the capital of the country was moved from Angkor to this place, and it was officially named "Bai Nang Ben", which means "Ben Madam's Mountain", and the local overseas Chinese called it "Phnom Penh".Phnom Penh · 2 km from downtown

Royal Palace of Cambodia (Phnom Penh) is one of the city’s most iconic attractions, praised for its stunning Khmer architecture, golden spires, and the famous Silver Pagoda. Visitors generally find it beautiful and culturally rich, though reviews note it can be crowded and parts of the complex are off-limits.

Very interesting learning about the history. We didn't do it, but if you're really wanting to get all the info, I recommend having a guide or paying the extra 5$ for the audio tour as a lot of the stops do not have info signs you can read.

I’ve been to Mekong River through Vietnam once. But this time, Mekong River is connected to Tonle Sap which it makes a wonderful experience. I’ve always wanted to go to Tonle Sap because I learnt about their history way back then in secondary school. The tour boat costs 100USdollar for the whole boat! There are only 6 of us there. If you want to try experiencing Tonle Sap, you can try Sok Chamroeun Tour Boat. Highly recommended!

The Independence Monument (Vimean Ekareach) is an iconic 20-meter tall reddish-brown sandstone tower located in the heart of Phnom Penh. Built in 1958, it commemorates Cambodia's independence from French colonial rule in 1953 and honors the country's fallen heroes. The tower is shaped like a blooming lotus bud, a symbol of purity and awakening in Khmer culture.Coolest roundabout I’ve seen.

Wat Phnom is a landmark building in Phnom Penh and a place where locals pray. At the entrance of the temple, there is the same strong smell of incense smoke and the same devout believers kneeling in worship. What is different from the scenery in China is that there are vendors selling lotus flowers for worship. Clusters of beautiful lotus flowers are about to bloom.

Only stopped for about 20 mins. Definitely recommend staying longer. Outer structure is amazing and great historical artifacts inside. $10 USD Entrance fee for foreign adult guests. Cheaper for ages 17 below, unfortunately forgot the actual fee😂Stopped by the museum before heading to the Royal Palace. But I recommend doing the other way aroubd. Head to The Royal Palace then move to the Museum, afterwards, there's a cafe in the vicinity if you'd fancy some snacks/coffee.
