National Mosque of Malaysia

1.1k reviews
National Mosque of Malaysia is located right next to the old Kuala Lumpur Railway Station and is situated in the green space beside the Lake Gardens. It was completed in 1965. "Negara" means "national" in Malay, and the name commemorates the new nation's peaceful path to independence. Unlike common mosques with onion-shaped domes, it follows a clean and crisp modernist style, using concrete and marble to create a sense of open space, making it stand out among the city's many old Moorish-style buildings. The main dome of the prayer hall is particularly worth seeing: the 16-pointed star-shaped concrete roof resembles a giant open umbrella, radiating outward from the center. Beside it stands a minaret approx. 73 m high, with a top that looks like a closed umbrella, often described by visitors as resembling a rocket. The entire complex can accommodate over 10,000 worshippers at once. After major renovations in the 1980s, the roof was tiled with blue and green tiles, which pair neatly with the white columns.Kuala Lumpur · 10.9 km from Petaling Jaya

There are ostriches, rhinoceros hornbills, flamingos and parrots among the numerous species throughout the park. Merdeka Square is located in the city center of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, situated in front of the Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad, and covers an area of approx. 8.2 hectares. The predecessor of this field was the Selangor Club field, known as "Padang," which was once the venue for cricket, rugby, and other matches. At midnight on August 31, 1957, the British flag was lowered here and the Malayan flag was raised, marking Malaysia's independence from British rule. Since then, the square has been renamed "Merdeka Square," and it is where the annual National Day celebrations are held.Kuala Lumpur · 11.3 km from Petaling Jaya

Mosques in Kuala Lumpur

7
The mosques of Kuala Lumpur are a vibrant microcosm of the city's multiculturalism and a concentrated display of Islamic architectural art. These mosques skillfully blend modern design with traditional Islamic aesthetics, abandoning elaborate ornamentation and using simple lines to outline solemn silhouettes. Unique tiered roofs and towering minarets reach towards the sky, their designs subtly imbued with cultural significance. Within the courtyards, pools and greenery complement each other, echoing the local climate and creating a tranquil and solemn atmosphere, a haven of peace amidst the bustling city. Entering the mosque requires observing basic etiquette: removing shoes and stepping onto the cool floor, and wearing a long robe to cover arms and legs, demonstrating respect for faith. The interior spaces are spacious and bright, with stained glass and crystal chandeliers reflecting each other. Geometric patterns and Arabic calligraphy on the walls and ceilings—every detail conveys the depth of Islamic culture. Here, there's no need to rush; simply immerse yourself in this solemnity and peace to understand the inclusive cultural essence of Kuala Lumpur and feel the power of faith and the beauty of architecture.Malaysia · Kuala Lumpur

The price was a bit high, but the scenery was beautiful. Unfortunately, there was no refund or cancellation policy. Because the driver deliberately led us on a wrong route, we were delayed and couldn't reach the top for the view. The children were very disappointed, and the driver refused to compensate us. We had to buy new tickets ourselves and visit the next day.

Kuala Lumpur Tower Review (98 words) From the Kuala Lumpur Tower observation deck, you can overlook the entire city, with the Petronas Twin Towers, TRX Tower, and National Theatre all visible – a fantastic vantage point. Unfortunately, the haze was heavy today, obscuring the distant views and significantly diminishing the experience. The SkyBox, a suspended glass structure, is quite challenging and suitable for photography enthusiasts. Overall, it's more of a city skyline photo opportunity; a visit to the tower is relatively short, and it's a convenient stop if you're passing by, not worth a special trip.

If you are visiting Kuala Lumpur, this bird park is an absolute must-visit. It completely exceeded my expectations! Located right inside Lake Gardens, it is billed as the world's largest free-flight walk-in aviary, and you can really feel the difference compared to a traditional zoo.The Experience:Walking through the massive net enclosures is such a unique feeling—hundreds of colourful birds (from massive ostriches and majestic hornbills to tiny, vibrant parrots) fly freely right above your head and walk along the paths next to you. It is incredibly immersive and a fantastic spot for nature photography. We spent a couple of hours just wandering around at a slow pace, watching the pelicans being fed and listening to the sounds of the rainforest.Practical Tips: Best Time to Go: Go as early as possible right when they open (around 9:00 AM). The humidity in KL gets intense later in the day, and the birds are much more active in the morning. What to Bring: Bring water, a hat, and a good camera/phone zoom lens. Mosquito repellent is also a must! Family Friendly: It is a great place for all ages, but wear comfortable walking shoes because you will be doing a lot of exploring on sloping paths.Final Verdict:It is a wonderful, green sanctuary to escape the concrete jungle and chaos of the city center for a few hours. Highly recommended for animal lovers and anyone looking for a peaceful morning in KL!

Merdeka Square is truly the heart of KL! I love the vast green lawn surrounded by stunning heritage buildings like the Sultan Abdul Samad Building. It feels so historic and grand, especially at night when everything is beautifully lit up.
