Taipei 101

Located in a prime location in Taipei, Taipei 101 was primarily planned by Taipei Financial Center Corporation, a consortium of fourteen companies, in collaboration with a professional team. Designed by renowned architect C.Y. Lee, the project transcends the concept of a single volume, using the auspicious number "eight" (a homophone for "prosperity") as a design unit. Each eight-story building forms a structural unit, interconnected and stacked to form the overall structure. This creates a rhythmic and dynamic aesthetic, pioneering a new style for international skyscrapers. Ultra-high-speed elevators: Taipei 101 Observatory is equipped with two ultra-high-speed elevators, with an ascent speed of up to 1010 meters per minute. It only takes 37 seconds to go from the 5th floor to the 89th floor observation deck. These two elevators are also equipped with constant pressure devices in the car, dampers, and high-temperature resistant ceramic braking systems, making them intelligent high-speed elevators that integrate high technology. The 89th-floor indoor observation deck, illuminated by dazzling lights at night, creates a dreamlike and immersive experience through its glass-enclosed landscape. Not only does it offer panoramic views of the city skyline, but it also features unique, private photo windows, ensuring every moment becomes a classic shot! Wind Damping Sphere: The full official name of the Taipei 101 wind damping sphere is the Tuned Mass Damper (TMD). It is a passive damping system custom-designed to meet the needs of this building, located centrally on floors 87-92. Its main purpose is to reduce the building's swaying during strong winds, minimizing discomfort for those working in the building. Unlike traditional concealed damping systems, the Taipei 101 wind damping sphere's design balances functionality and aesthetics, allowing a clear view of the entire damping system's operation from the observation deck. The multi-section exterior design naturally mitigates the wind field effect on the ground caused by airflow from high-rise buildings, and ensures pedestrian safety and comfort through the separation of green planting areas in the architectural design. Infinite Sky: Utilizing a unique mirroring principle, the interplay of reflections and rotations between the atrium and floor creates a visual experience of boundless space and limitless expanse, making visitors feel as if they are in a kaleidoscope world. Helpful Reminder: Female visitors wearing short skirts should be aware of the reflection issues on the mirrored floor. Rainbow Neon Zone: The night view from above, combined with neon lights, is a popular spot for taking photos and shouldn't be missed!Taipei

We arrived at Penghu, one of the outer islands of Taiwan, our first stop on the journey. Before departure, I decided whether to take a flight or a boat. After careful consideration, in order to shorten the transportation time, the boat trip took 4.5 hours. There was not much difference in price, so I finally chose UNI Air. Before departure, I had been a little worried about taking a small plane, but after seeing the actual thing, I felt more at ease. It was a short 25-minute flight and it felt good to see the blue sky and clear sea.

The most famous thing about Qimei Island is the Double Heart Stone, but other than this, the surrounding sea and windproof stone buildings are all very distinctive. It’s worth taking a look when you come to Penghu~

Smooth access, friendly staff, great adventure despite the long lines for getting in and out. We were lucky enough to enjoy sunset and the night views of Taipei. The egg cake is so delicious.

Among the Penghu Islands outside Taiwan, there is a small island called Qimeiyu. Although the island is not very large, with a circumference of only ten kilometers, it has natural scenic spots and many beautiful scenery, especially in a piece of water in the northeast corner, which is submerged in the water. The flat rocks have a unique shape, just like a miniature version of the main island of Taiwan. It can be said that they are exactly the same. It is breathtaking for tourists to see. It is really a place that no one in Penghu can visit.

The scenery is beautiful but the need to queue for photo taking with the queen head wasn’t a good experience. We didnt mind to wait in the queue (under the hot weather), but we realised when it’s finally our turn at the photospot, there were alot of other tourists in the background. This was slightly disappointing as photos taken at other spots around the area were even nicer without the tourists in the background. Overall still a decent experience.

yes it is worth visiting. We even enjoyed the free Bluebird travel egg roll gift box which is exclusive only to TRIP.COM when booked online. time is flexible. we booked for 5:00 pm but they allowed us to enter at 4:00 pm. Even the elevator experience is nice. I was so amazed how fast the elevator reached the 89th floor. there is even an interactive lighting on the ceiling of the elevator while on its way up & down. Being a Civil Engineer, I was so amazed when the Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) that helps absorb some of the movement and reduce the building swaying was explained in the audo-visual presentation. My wife also enjoyed our date, thanks to the stunning sunset view and the various lights at night. She also enjoyed photographing the numerous photogenic designs on the 89th floor, where you can even purchase food and drinks. I'll bring the kids along next time.
