Ubud is the cultural and creative center of Bali. This world-famous art village has a powerful creative spirit. The village is awash in artistic forms such as painting, sculpting, music, textiles, and architecture. Craft shops and museums line the streets. Artists from all over the world come here to find inspiration, and it was also one of the locations featured in the film "Eat, Pray, Love." In addition to visiting a variety of artisan shops, you can also visit the magnificent Ubud Palace to enjoy traditional dance performances and local specialties.Indonesia · Bali

Lovina Beach

Lovina Beach

7.2
4.2/5
223 reviews
Lovina Beach is located on the northern tip of Bali and is a favorite place for diving enthusiasts. Due to the long-term erosion of the volcanic rocks by the sea, a unique black sand beach is formed, which is also one of the quietest beaches in Bali. Going to Lovina to see dolphins is one of the must-have items. Rottweiler means "sea of honey" and was named by a chief of Singaraja. Lovina Beach is low-key and suitable for tourists who seek privacy. Its low decibel and slow rhythm are in sharp contrast to Kuta. Hundreds of dolphins live in this area of water, and at dawn, they go out to hunt in groups, forming a spectacular "Dolphin Legion" on the sea. Diving resorts For more professional diving enthusiasts, there are diving resorts that are better than other shores. You can also admire tropical fish and look for small corals in this area. For those who don't know how to dive, renting a boat to see corals in the sea at a depth of 500 to 600 meters is also a unique experience. More than ten meters deep in the sea, with coral reefs, you can feel the splendor of nature without being in the water.Indonesia · Bali

Kuta Beach

7
4.4/5
2.1k reviews
Kuta Beach is a crescent-shaped stretch of fine sand in southern Bali, often chosen by travelers as their first stop on the island due to its well-developed amenities and convenient transportation. The signature activity here is surfing: the shallow waters and gentle white waves at both ends of the bay are perfect for wading and ideal for first-time surfers, while the middle section offers stronger waves where local experts can often be seen riding the swells. Numerous surf schools along the beach provide beginner lessons, allowing first-time travelers to experience the thrill of catching their first wave with the help of an instructor. The west-facing beach makes sunset the highlight here: in the evening, the sun slowly sinks below the sea, painting the sky and sand in golden-red hues, with many people settling on the sand in advance just to witness this moment. During the day, you can wade in the sea, sunbathe, or rent a beach chair to relax in the ocean breeze. Shops along the shore display traditional Balinese handicrafts like sarongs, wood carvings, and shell jewelry, perfect for leisurely souvenir hunting. For those seeking to avoid crowds, early mornings in Kuta are relatively quiet, with the beach mostly frequented by jogging locals and early-bird surfers heading out to sea. A few reminders: there are many mobile vendors on the beach, and a polite decline will suffice; check the day's wave conditions before entering the water—beginners are advised to practice in the near-shore white waves with an instructor and avoid swimming alone into deep waters. As night falls, Kuta takes on a different vibe, with numerous restaurants, bars, and clubs nearby. Beachfront restaurants offer seafood barbecues accompanied by sea breezes and candlelight; for those who prefer less noise, there are also venues to watch traditional Balinese dance performances, providing an alternative way to spend the evening.Indonesia · Bali

Jimbaran Beach

4.6/5
2.6k reviews
Jimbaran Beach is a long stretch of golden sand shaped like a crescent, with colorful fishing boats moored along the shore. It faces the Indian Ocean, and at sunset, as the sun slowly sinks into the sea, the fishing boats turn into silhouettes and the entire bay is dyed orange-red. In the evening, open-air seafood stalls along the shore set up charcoal grills and light candles. Fishermen deliver the day's catch directly to the stalls, where lobsters, prawns, squid, fish, and crabs are displayed on ice. You can choose your own and have the stall owner grill them over coconut husk charcoal. The seafood stalls are distributed along the bay and can be roughly divided into 3 sections: the north section is close to the airport, where you can see planes flying low overhead while dining; the central section has a larger number of stalls and is connected to the fish market; the south section was developed earlier and has a stronger fishing village atmosphere. Arrive early before sunset to get a seat facing the sea; after dinner, take a walk along the beach to see the lights of the fishing village at night.Indonesia · Bali

Seminyak Beach

4.4/5
205 reviews
Seminyak Beach is located north of Kuta Beach and is the main beach of the Seminyak resort area. The sand here is gray-black volcanic sand, the beach is wide with a gentle slope, and the sunset views are quite consistent. When the sky is dyed orange-pink, the entire sea surface appears to be covered in a layer of warm light. This area is known for its upscale vacation vibe: the shore is lined with beach bars, lounge chairs, and colorful beanbag chairs, with boutique hotels, restaurants, and small shops and galleries clustered behind. From south to north, the different sections of the coast have different vibes: the southern end near Double Six Beach is quite lively, with concentrated stalls and crowds; the middle section is relatively quiet, with beach bars side by side; the northern end near Petitenget Temple has cleaner sand and fewer vendors. The waves here are gentle and sand-bottomed, making them beginner-friendly for surfing. It is important to note that there are rip currents along this coast all year round, so it is advisable to choose the lifeguard-patrolled areas marked by red and yellow flags when entering the water, and to know your limits.Indonesia · Bali

Tanjung Benoa

Tanjung Benoais located right next to the Nusa Dua resort area. This bay has small waves, shallow water, and relatively calm sea conditions, making it a hub for water activities in Bali, with popular activities including parasailing, flying fish, jet skiing, banana boating, donut boating, canoeing, snorkeling, scuba diving, as well as sea walking and flyboarding, with most activities including instruction and supervision by an instructor. If you want to see the ocean from the air, you can choose parasailing, where you are slowly lifted into the air by a speedboat to overlook the entire bay and beach; the flying fish activity involves being towed on an inflatable raft that leaps out of the water. If you don't want to get into the water, you can take a glass-bottom boat trip, where you can watch fish swim by through the bottom of the boat before landing on Turtle Island on the other side.Indonesia · Bali
Nusa Dua

Nusa Dua

4.3/5
722 reviews
Nusa Dua is a master-planned, high-end coastal resort area. Its name means "two islands" in the local language, and you can indeed see two small islands in the bay. The entire area is self-contained, with security checkpoints at the entrances where vehicles and hotel guests are checked. The roads inside are clean and spacious, with rows of neatly trimmed hedges stretching along them, which is completely different from the small streets and alleys of Ubud and Kuta. International brand resort hotels such as Sheraton, Hilton, and Hyatt stand along the bay, each maintaining the fine white sand beach in front of them. The water in the bay is sheltered by outer reefs, making it calm, shallow, and clear. It is perfect for swimming and playing in the water. The Water Blow viewing point at the end of the peninsula is quite distinctive, where Indian Ocean swells rush into rock crevices, sending water columns soaring into the air. For shopping and dining, you can head to the Bali Collection within the area, where hundreds of shops, restaurants, and duty-free shops are concentrated. Visitors not staying at resort hotels can head to Geger Beach at the southern end, a public beach surrounded by reefs with clear, calm water, lounge chairs, and snack stalls. If you want to play activities like jet skiing, banana boating, or flying fish, head to the adjacent Tanjung Benoa area to the north, where water sports are concentrated, and you can also take a glass-bottom boat to Turtle Island across the water.Indonesia · Bali

Sanur

4.2/5
197 reviews
For tourists who like tranquility, leisure and elegance, Sanur is a better choice. It is a good place to watch the beautiful sunrise in Bali. Its nightlife is also very colorful. At dusk, you can see the lively Disco Live performances in the ballroom and Pub, as well as authentic Balinese indigenous dances. Beach Introduction Sanur Beach Sanur consists of several small beaches connected together with a quiet atmosphere. When the morning sun rises, there are often locals and tourists jogging on the flagstone road. Originally a small village by the sea, it was one of the first resort areas established in Bali after half a century of tourism boom. Nonetheless, it still holds its mark on this history well, and its laid-back vibe hasn't changed since the beginning. The more laid-back atmosphere here compared to Kuta and Legian also attracts a different group of tourists. Beach Activities The sea here is clean and suitable for snorkeling and diving, but the facilities are relatively old. Sanur is also a marina and there are many boats departing to Lembongan and Lombok. The consumption level of Sanur Beach is slightly lower than that of Kuta, and the nightlife is rich and colorful. At dusk, there are many lively Disco dance halls and Pub live singing. In addition, you can also enjoy the authentic indigenous dance of Bali.Indonesia · Bali

We were a bit early to pick up people. We arrived a little after 7:00 for the 8:00 boat... and then the boat ran aground on its way back. We were fleeing like we were fleeing, our skirts soaked... We even ran into a Chinese kid who broke a bone playing. Honestly, we were there to help him get on the boat. It was so crowded, it was just too chaotic... Someone dropped their wallet, and a foreigner found it and gave it to the sailors on the boat.

If you are traveling independently, this ticket is very cost-effective. After buying the ticket, the staff will add your WeChat to communicate with you, but they are from Indonesia and other places. We booked a hotel near the meeting point, which is very convenient. It takes a long time to wait for people on the way. The boat driver is very experienced and well-received. When you arrive at the meeting point in the early morning, the boat driver will find you with a paper with your name on it.

Definitely worth going! What more could you ask for at such a cheap price? And it's easy to find a taxi; just enter "27 Surf School". The instructors are great. The theoretical lesson lasts 20-30 minutes, mainly focusing on practicing how to get on the board. Then it's one-on-one surfing practice! It's so much fun! I stood up on the board on my first try, and the success rate was surprisingly high! It was really fun! The photographer also took some great photos! Video recording is an extra charge (about 30 RMB), but you can also ask a non-surfer friend to film it for you. I initially thought surfing was difficult, but I found it's not that hard to get started. For me, taking a few surfing photos was enough. Highly recommended! Life experience +1‼️
