The Bridge of the Americas, spanning the Panama Canal entrance across the Pacific Ocean, is the pride of Panama. Designed and built by Americans in 1962 at a cost of $20 million, it was the only bridge connecting North and South America until the completion of the Centennial Bridge, the second bridge across the canal, in 2004. The bridge is 1,653 meters long, its steel frame arching like a dragon majestically guarding the canal. Cars can cross the canal in just a few minutes. At night, the Bridge of the Americas is even more magnificent and breathtaking. Of course, compared to bridges in China, it pales in comparison, but its geographical location makes it exceptionally famous.
