Lake Ohrid
Lake Ohrid's surface is at an altitude of nearly 700 m, and it is surrounded by high mountains. The lake is deep and clear, like a giant sapphire embedded among the mountains. The deepest part of the lake basin is nearly 300 m, and on clear days, the water transparency can reach about 20 m. Overlooking from the hillsides or slowly cruising across the lake, one is often met with an endless expanse of blue, serene and pure. This attraction is not only beautiful but also possesses an extremely rich and unique ecosystem. The lake is home to hundreds of endemic species of flora and fauna, many of which are rarely seen elsewhere in the world, making this lake an important natural treasure trove for studying ancient freshwater ecosystems. Ohrid
The ancient city is situated at Car Samoil and was built in the 2nd century BC. The city features numerous ancient buildings, including medieval churches, monasteries, frescoes, castles, and towers. It once had 365 churches (over 30 remain today), allowing people to visit a different church for worship every day, which earned it the name "Jerusalem of the Balkans." Saint Naum Monastery
Saint Naum Monastery was built in the 9th century by the monk Naum. It is situated on the border between Macedonia and Albania and once served as a refuge. The old town of Ohrid is located on the seaside. The whole old town is built along the highlands and against the mountain. It looks very layered from a distance. There are many paths in the old town, and all kinds of shops are opened on both sides. It is really worth a walk in the old town to feel the different seaside style.
