Nagoya Castle

3.6k reviews
Nagoya Castlewas built by order of Tokugawa Ieyasu and was once the residence of the Owari Tokugawa clan. It is often cited alongside Osaka Castle and Kumamoto Castle as one of Japan's three most famous castles. At both ends of the main keep's roof ridge sit a pair of male and female golden shachihoko (mythical tiger-headed carp); these golden ornaments shine brilliantly in the sunlight, and their majestic appearance remains a highly recognizable symbol of the city. The core attraction within the castle is the restored Honmaru Palace. This complex, which once served as the residence and administrative office for the feudal lord, was rebuilt based on primary historical sources, with halls such as the Omote Shoin and Jorakuden laid out in sequence, and exquisite wall paintings and gold-leaf decorations recreating the grandeur of the samurai shoin-zukuri style. Outside the palace, the three corner turrets—southwest, southeast, and northwest—are historical structures that have survived to this day, and you can still identify the markings of various feudal lords on the massive stones of the stone walls, while Ni-no-maru Garden is known for its waterfall rock arrangements and stone bridges. In terms of the experience, the park is planted with nearly 1,000 cherry trees, and when they bloom in spring, the main keep and the cherry blossoms can be captured in the same frame. The plaza often hosts live performances and interactive experiences by Sengoku warrior groups and ninja squads, providing visitors with a rich array of historical architecture viewing and cultural activities.Nagoya · 13.5 km from Nagakute

The Tokugawa Museum of Art is located in the urban area of Nagoya. It is a private art museum in Japan that preserves the life and culture of the so-called princes. The Tokugawa Garden where it is located is a classic Japanese-style garden of pond spring tour, and the autumn maple season is very beautiful. The art museum houses 10,000 to 10,000 pieces of works by Ieyasu Tokugawa, a private art museum that displays relics passed down to the Owari Tokugawa family and daimyo tools. Among them, there are 9 national treasures, 59 important cultural heritages, and 46 important works of art, including the world-famous Tale of Genji picture scroll (national treasure). The quality of its preservation is astounding. The huge number of exhibits are rotated every month, and all you can see is the original. In the permanent exhibition, part of the public living space of the Owari feudal lord, the lock room and the Hiroma of the Ninomaru Palace of Nagoya Castle, the Noh stage, and the Saru-Mee tea table have been restored. Atsuta Jingu is a very famous shrine in Nagoya, with a long history and rich cultural atmosphere. The entire shrine is located in a dense forest, and walking through it feels like being in the tranquility of nature. The main hall is solemn and majestic, and many tourists and locals come to worship and pray, especially during the New Year or important festivals. The shrine enshrines the Kusanagi sword, one of the three major artifacts of Japan, so it has important religious significance. There are also beautiful ponds, torii and ancient trees in the courtyard, which are very suitable for taking pictures. This is a great place to experience Japan's traditional culture and beautiful nature, and it is worth savoring.

There are so many temples in Japan | I just picked a beautiful one to check in haha There are so many temples in Japan, but checking in at every one would be tiresome and I wouldn't be able to run around. So I just picked a beautiful one that's free 🆓 to see 😆~ The classic red color is indeed beautiful 🤩. I was lucky enough to see a flock of pigeons 🕊️ flying around, it was a spectacular sight! The pigeons here 🐦 aren't afraid of people, just like the deer in Nara 🦌! Prayers and fortune-telling at the temple are just like in China. What matters is peace of mind and sincerity... ⛩️Osu Kannon (Hosho-in Temple) 🈺6-17pm 🚇Subway, Osu Kannon Station, Exit 2

It has a glass-roofed "Water Spaceship" where you can walk 14 meters in the air, an above-ground park "Green Land" with a vast lawn, a semi-underground "Bus Terminal", and "Galaxy Plaza" where various events are held underground. A three-dimensional park with 30 various shops. The spaceship that lights up the water at night is very photogenic, and it is also a popular photo spot.

The Dongchuan Hot Spring area is filled with the rustic mountain atmosphere and has relatively few tourists. Many locals, especially those who practice Shugendo, gear up here to climb Mt. Omine. The most famous Longquan Temple is here. In the evening, stroll around the village, eat hot spring cuisine and soak in hot springs. The night is as cool as water, the sky is full of stars, and my heart is filled with romantic ripples.
