Fisherman's Bastion

Fisherman's Bastion is located on Castle Hill on the Buda side. It is a fortress named in honor of the fishermen who once defended the Danube River. Along with the Hungarian Parliament Building and the Hungarian National Opera, it is considered one of the three most impressive buildings in Hungary and is also a viewpoint overlooking the Danube River and the Pest district. Historical background Fisherman's Bastion stands on the banks of the Danube River, adjacent to Matthias Church. Construction began in 1895, with the main structure completed in 1902. This two-story, greyish-white building centers around a white spire in the Neo-Romanesque style, which, along with several surrounding round towers, represents the ancestral tribes of Hungary. The towers are connected by colonnades, creating a labyrinthine effect. Several bronze statues atop Fisherman's Bastion are also noteworthy, the most famous being an equestrian statue of a Hungarian king, erected in 1906 and located between Matthias Church and Fisherman's Bastion. The reliefs on its base depict the king's life story. Guided tour Fisherman's Bastion features numerous steps and walkways, offering scenic views as you ascend. It also boasts several observation decks on its towers. Even in windy or rainy weather, the arched corridors of these towers provide excellent shelter from the rain and heat, and you can rest on the benches within the corridors if you get tired. Overlooking the scenery Standing atop Fisherman's Bastion, you can enjoy breathtaking views that even the top of Castle Hill cannot fully capture: the Danube River, Margrethe Island, the Chain Bridge, the Hungarian Parliament Building, and Liberty Hill are all within sight. Fisherman's Bastion also possesses a unique charm at night, with everything around it appearing exceptionally enchanting under special lighting. Street performers playing music on the platform add to the ambiance, making it a truly romantic place to enjoy the night view; you'll often see many couple on dates here. The restaurant of the same name, Fisherman's Bastion, has seats in both the north and south corridors of Fisherman's Bastion, offering a very pleasant dining environment. The restaurant also has a terrace in the tower, where you can enjoy coffee while taking in the beautiful merchandise scenery, which is a delightful experience.Hungary · Budapest

As the central academic library of the Republic of Austria, the Austrian National Library has a long history, with its traditions dating back to the 14th century. It serves as a living bridge connecting the rich heritage of the past with the future-oriented needs of the modern information society. The Austrian National Library carries on the legacy of the Habsburg court library, comprising eight departments that preserve a significant portion of the world's documentary heritage and bear the responsibility of continuing to protect these treasures. Its collections of ancient, medieval, and modern manuscripts span diverse cultural fields and hold immense international significance. Additionally, the library houses music manuscripts, early printed books and rare texts, historical maps, portraits and other pictorial documents, posters, bookplates, pamphlets, as well as the equally important literary estates of Austrian writers. Four museums under the library's management showcase to the public the world's unique collection of historical globes, an impressive Esperanto collection, and a comprehensive archive of Austrian literature. Since 2018, the Austrian National Library has also operated the House of Austrian History, a museum dedicated to presenting modern historical events with a particular focus on Austria's history since 1918. The Baroque-style State Hall was built between 1723 and 1726, designed by Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach, and is hailed as one of the world's most impressive libraries, regularly hosting special exhibitions. The Austrian National Library aims to open its doors to as wide a readership as possible. To achieve this goal, the library regularly holds exhibitions to raise public awareness of its collections and collaborates with other cultural and educational institutions to organize activities such as reading sessions, book launches, seminars and concerts. Through these activities, the Austrian National Library not only fulfills its statutory educational responsibilities but also demonstrates its unique position as a multicultural education center. All staff at the Austrian National Library are committed to ensuring that all tasks are completed quickly and properly. We always adhere to the service philosophy of professionalism, enthusiasm, and attentiveness in welcoming visitors from around the world. We strive to create an engaging library world for our visitors, where historical heritage, modern architecture, and collections spanning the past and present blend seamlessly with library traditions and modern technology, complementing each other perfectly.Vienna · 75.4 km from Melk

Hofburg Palace is one of Vienna's most iconic attractions, showcasing the grandeur of the former imperial residence of the Habsburg dynasty. The palace complex is vast, with beautifully preserved architecture, elegant courtyards, and fascinating museums that offer a glimpse into Austria's royal history. The Imperial Apartments, Sisi Museum, and the Imperial Silver Collection are particularly worth visiting, each telling a different part of the empire's story. Walking through the palace feels like stepping back in time, with every room reflecting the luxury and sophistication of imperial life. The surrounding area is equally impressive, with charming streets, cafés, and historic buildings that make it easy to spend several hours exploring. Whether you're interested in history, architecture, or royal heritage, Hofburg Palace provides an enriching experience and is undoubtedly one of the highlights of any trip to Vienna.

Europaschloss Leiben is located in the city center. It has a very nice feel. There are many old items, as well as some novel glass curtain walls and dome designs. They are exquisite.

Easily the most beautiful library in Europe and possibly the world. It is very historical and was built hundreds of years ago. Do not miss out this gem.
