Fort Rotterdam is located in Makassar. This 450-year-old fort is one of the best-preserved Dutch-era buildings in the city and has become a must-visit stop for travelers to Makassar. Fort Rotterdam features walls several meters wide. It is not far from the sea, so you can see the ocean directly from the walls. Inside the fort, there are over a dozen old buildings with European charm. It is said that in the past, Dutch settlers and missionaries arriving in Sulawesi to make a living would first gather at this fort before being dispatched to various parts of the island.Ujung Pandang · 1.3 km from downtown

Losari Beach is located in the city center of Makassar. A must-do activity when visiting Makassar is to go to Losari Beach to enjoy the beautiful sunset. Every evening around 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, groups of people gather along the Losari coast, and everyone comes here for one reason only—to watch the sunset. You can sit quietly by the coast to wait for the sunset, take a boat trip around the area to enjoy the sunset from the water, or choose an ocean-facing restaurant by the beach to enjoy a meal and a cold drink while gazing at the sunset glow, which is both relaxing and enjoyable.Ujung Pandang · 885m from downtown

Fort Rotterdam explains the history of Makassar after the arrival of the Dutch VOC. It consists of several colonial buildings built since 17th century. In the same compound, you will find La Galigo Museum. It is right in the middle of Makassar. There is an admission at least for foreigners.
