The Lhasa River, called Jiqu in Tibetan, originates from the southern foot of the Nyainqentanglha Mountain, flows southwest through Lhasa City, and then joins the Brahmaputra River in Qushui County. The lower river valley is relatively open and is the main farming area in Tibet. Lhasa River is the mother river of Lhasa City and has a great influence on the development of Lhasa. In 633 AD, after the Tubo monarch Songtsan Gampo unified the Tibetan tribes, he moved the capital to the Lhasa River Valley, and the Lhasa River Basin developed along with it, gradually becoming the central area of economy, culture, transportation and religion in the Tibetan Plateau. The Lhasa River Basin is about 551 kilometers long from east to west, with a drainage area of 32,471 square kilometers. It is the largest tributary of the Yarlung Zangbo River Basin. The climate here is mild, the terrain is flat, the soil is thick, the water source is abundant, and the soil quality is good. The basin is rich in plateau animals, plants and geothermal resources, making it one of the main grain producing areas in Tibet. You may not be able to spend so long with the Lhasa River like the locals, but in the evening, you can take a walk by the river near Xianzu Island and Tibet University, and enjoy the beauty of the sunset touching the horizon. What's even better is that there are many restaurants nearby, so you don't have to worry about food and clothing at all.China · Lhasa

Zaki Temple is located on Zaki Road in the northern suburb of Lhasa. It is the only temple of wealth in Tibet. Although the temple is small, the incense is very prosperous. The temple is the deity of the Auspicious Heavenly Mother-Zakiram Buddha Hall, with strong incense, monks with cultivation bases anointing the guests with blessings and precious gifts. Dharma protectors in the world still have a relationship with all living beings, so many times they will transform into human figures and come into contact with all living beings. Goddess Zaki belongs to such gods and is particularly effective. Many Tibetans and Han people come here every Wednesday to worship Buddha. The main god of Zaki Temple is addicted to alcohol, so people who come to Zaki Temple to worship will not only bring Hada and Sangzhi, but also white wine or highland barley wine.China · Lhasa

Laken La is a must-pass point when traveling from Lhasa to Namtso. The altitude here is 5,190 m, and a stone tablet engraved with the altitude stands by the roadside. Standing here and looking north, the lake surface meets the distant mountains at the horizon. This is a rare high-altitude viewing point before reaching the lakeshore, and many people take their time to admire this plateau lake scenery. The terrain here is elevated, with undulating mountains all around, and the weather is changeable. When it is sunny, you can see the rolling snow-capped mountains in the distance and the vast plateau landscape; when the weather is poor, conditions such as clouds, fog, snow, and strong winds may occur.China · Damxung

Kula Kangri Snow Mountain

Kula Kangri Snow Mountain stands on the main ridge of the central Himalayas, with its main peak at an elevation of 7,538 m. It is highly revered in Tibetan tradition. The entire mountain consists of three main peaks, with six other peaks over 7,000 m standing side-by-side, forming a continuous barrier of ice and snow. The cliffs on both sides of the ridge are steep, and multiple glaciers have developed in the valleys. Among them, two valley glaciers on the north slope stretch for approx. 10 km, with landscapes such as ice forests, ice cliffs, and ice walls spreading along the glacial valleys, where ice avalanches occur from time to time. The other side of the ridge is adjacent to Bhutan, while the valley at the northern foot is dry, cold, and open. From May to June, warm and humid air currents from the Indian Ocean bring vitality to the mountain valleys, with flowers and trees reviving, forming a sharp contrast with the snow-capped peaks. Hiking around the lakes at the foot of the mountain is a representative way to explore this snow-capped mountain: Pemaling Tso, Zhegong San Cuo, Jiejiu Cuo, and other plateau lakes are scattered among the peaks, with the Cuoyu Village area at the foot of the mountain serving as a base. Among them, theshores of Pemaling Tsoare a popular spot for panoramic photography of the snow-capped mountains, and when the weather is clear, you have a chance to see the "golden mountain" moment. Every spring and fall, alpine rhododendrons bloom by the lake, the sky is high and clouds are light, and visibility is high, making it a good time for mountain viewing. Summer is the rainy season, and the snow-capped mountains are often hidden in clouds and mist. The altitude along the hiking route is generally over 4,500 m, so you need to reserve time for altitude acclimatization. For tourists who do not plan to hike, you can also view this range of snow-capped peaks from the roadside when driving over the Mengdala Pass.China · Lhozhag

Guoguotang Big Turnis one of the most distinctive natural landscapes in the Nujiang River Canyon. The mountains here are majestic and the river winds through them, with the massive mountains and the rushing Nujiang River together creating a spectacular canyon view. Standing in the viewing area and looking out, you can see the Nujiang River forming a beautiful and distinct bend among the mountains, with the river water resembling a blue-green ribbon winding through the canyon, creating a magnificent sight. The mountains on both banks are towering and steep, covered with dense vegetation that displays rich colors in different seasons. In spring and summer, the forests are lush green, with clouds and mist drifting slowly among the mountains; in fall, some slopes change color, contrasting with the deep canyon and the river; on clear days, the blue sky and white clouds are reflected on the river surface, making the entire canyon appear exceptionally open.China · Motuo

We had two children aged 6 and under with us, and we strolled around, playing as we went. There were fewer people in winter; it would probably be even more beautiful in March or April when the azaleas bloom. But winter has its own charm, and the kids continued to play as they walked. There's a long wooden boardwalk at the beginning, surrounded by lots of plants, which is quite interesting.

Embark on a Rendezvous in the Clouds: The Ultimate Healing Experience of Kula Kangri Snow Mountain As the barley fields outside the car window are gradually replaced by pristine white snow, Kula Kangri Snow Mountain bursts into view with overwhelming grandeur—three main peaks, each over 7,000 meters high, stand side by side, their summits covered in glaciers that reflect the cold light of the sun, like a snow-covered secret realm left behind by heaven in southern Tibet, exuding a sacred and tranquil aura. Following the hiking route, the path is a tapestry of gravel and meadows, with glacial meltwater flowing beside you, so clear it reflects the contours of the snow-capped mountains. Along the way, on the alpine meadows, wildflowers bloom defiantly in the cold wind, and occasionally yaks stroll leisurely, swishing their tails. In the distance, prayer flags flutter in the wind, their red, blue, white, green, and yellow hues drawing dynamic arcs between heaven and earth, embodying the piety and faith of Tibet. The higher you climb, the clearer the air becomes, and the details of the snow-capped mountains become increasingly clear: glacial crevasses resemble the patterns of the earth, and accumulated snow outlines smooth lines on the mountainside. Every breath carries the crispness of ice and snow, cleansing the dust from your heart. Reaching the mountain pass, the entire snow-capped mountain range unfolds before your eyes. The main peak, Kula Kangri, stands majestically, flanked by Xiegeer Gongga Ri and Sangding Gangri, like guardian deities protecting this pristine land. At your feet, lakes, like sapphires, are nestled at the foot of the snow-capped mountains, their reflections indistinguishable—is it the mountains reflected in the water, or the water reflecting the spirit of the mountains? At this moment, the world is a vast expanse of white, save for the sound of the wind and your own heartbeat. All the noise is shut out by the snow-capped mountains, leaving only pure awe and tranquility. In the evening, you stay in a village at the foot of the mountains. Wisps of smoke rise from the chimneys of Tibetan houses, mingling with the mountain mists. Sitting in the courtyard, watching the snow-capped mountains gradually turn golden-red in the twilight before finally fading into silence, the starry sky quietly fills the night, the Milky Way clearly visible, as if one could reach out and touch the vastness of the universe. Local herders bring steaming hot butter tea; its rich aroma dispels the chill and adds a touch of warmth to this snowy journey. Saying goodbye to Kula Kangri, looking back at the pristine white mountains, my heart is filled with reluctance. Here, there is no excessive commercialization, only the most pristine nature and the purest faith. Every step is a baptism of the soul, every glance an unforgettable view. If you yearn for ultimate purity and awe, why not set foot on this land, converse with heaven and earth atop the snow-capped mountains, encounter yourself, and embark on an unforgettable rendezvous in the clouds?

Guoguotang Big Bend is not a large scenic area. Standing on the observation deck, you can see the rushing Yarlung Zangbo River making a 180° turn like a snake among the misty tea gardens, like a long dragon entwined among the lush rainforest. The peculiar landscape makes me marvel at the wonders of nature.

Buddha Palm Sand Dunes is such a great place! From a distance, a large area of golden sand is piled up like the palm of Buddha, with very soft and smooth lines. When the sun shines on it, it sparkles like gold powder. Standing on the top of the sand dune, you can see snow-capped mountains, forests and the Yarlung Zangbo River at the same time. Several completely different landscapes are put together, just like a photo-editing software synthesis --but it is purely natural! ! ! The most amazing thing is that the sand dunes can "sing"! The sand squeaks when you step on it, and sometimes you can hear a buzzing sound when the wind blows. The locals say that this is the Buddha chanting. It is also exciting to play, you can slide on the sand, roll around, and the photos you take are all blockbuster effects. You can adjust any filter to go viral on WeChat Moments. The most amazing thing is that there are green mountains and green waters all around, but a big sand dune suddenly appeared in this area, as if someone deliberately dumped several trucks of sand. In fact, this is a natural wonder created by strong winds and river water for tens of thousands of years. It is much cooler than man-made scenic spots! ! ! If you come to Linzhi, I recommend it! !

If you can't book a visit to the Potala Palace in Lhasa, I recommend Drepung Monastery, which is comparable to the Potala Palace. Drepung Monastery is the highest-ranking monastery of the Gelugpa sect and one of the three major monasteries in Lhasa. Even if you don't understand Tibetan Buddhism, it's worth seeing just the architecture and experiencing the atmosphere. Reviews generally say it's grand in scale, magnificent in architecture, and has a strong religious atmosphere, making it a must-see attraction in Lhasa. The white buildings cover the hillside and look like a giant pile of rice from a distance, making for great photos. However, due to the high altitude, you should take your time and explore slowly.

The foot of the glacier is 5,020 meters high, so climbing it really requires careful consideration. When the guide asked if we could rent oxygen tanks, I quickly raised my hand. Step by step, even with oxygen, it was difficult to climb. I felt exhausted. Then, a small lake appeared. Some people circled the lake and continued to ascend, so I gave up decisively. The movie "Red River Valley" was filmed here, making the Karola Glacier quite famous. Many travelers come here to admire the magnificent glacier and marvel at the charm of nature.
