Basilica of Our Lady of Candelaria
Basilica of Our Lady of Candelaria is located in the town of Candelaria on the island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands, Spain, and is one of the most important Catholic pilgrimage sites in the region. This church is dedicated to the Virgin of Candelaria, who is considered the patron saint of the Canary Islands. Legend has it that around 1390, the Guanches, the ancient inhabitants of the island, discovered the statue of the Virgin on the beach. Following the Spanish conquest, the statue was placed in the Cave of Achbinico, which became a local pilgrimage site. The current church blends Neoclassical and regional architectural styles, featuring a three-nave structure and a 25m high dome. Its 45m high bell tower has become one of the landmarks of the town of Candelaria. Every year on February 2 and August 15, thousands of pilgrims arrive to celebrate the Feast of the Virgin. Teresita Beach has both very primitive reefs and beautiful beaches. The sea water here is very blue and clear, and the waves will create waves of white waves and the blue sea water, forming a sharp contrast, which is really very beautiful and makes people admire the greatness of nature.
