Porto Cathedral
Porto Cathedral stands prominently on a hill in Porto, one of the city's ancient monuments. Porto Cathedral stands majestically on the high ground of the old town, one of the ancient buildings still existing in Porto and an important example of Romanesque architecture in Portugal. The cathedral was first built around 1110 and largely completed in the 13th century, with Gothic and Baroque elements added over the following centuries: the Romanesque nave, Gothic cloister, and Baroque loggia coexist within the same structure, making a visit akin to flipping through a three-dimensional architectural history book. As a city landmark that has existed for nearly a millennium, the church was built approx. in 1110, with construction spanning a century. Bom Jesus do Monte
The Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte is located on Mount Espinó, on the outskirts of Braga in northern Portugal. It is a historic Roman Catholic pilgrimage site. Its most famous feature is the magnificent zigzag Baroque steps, which climb 116 meters. Along the way, there are many chapels, fountains and sculptures depicting the scenes of the Passion of Jesus. The sanctuary was built in the 14th century, and the existing buildings were mainly built from the 18th to the early 19th century, combining Baroque and neoclassical styles. Among them, the famous "Five Senses Steps" symbolize vision, hearing, smell, taste and touch through fountains, reflecting the combination of religion and art. To facilitate tourists to climb to the top, one of the earliest cable cars in the Iberian Peninsula was built in 1882 and is still in operation. I highly recommend this museum. They even moved the nose of a 747 into it. You can also visit the cargo hold, economy class, and upper cockpit separately. It's very rare.

There are old towns along the Douro River. Although they look a bit shabby at first glance, I really like the atmosphere of history that is a bit dilapidated. The old town is also colorful and well-arranged, and it looks even more lovely under the sunshine. There are many small shops in the old street where you can stroll around and buy some local specialties. There are also many scenic restaurants along the river where you can spend a very relaxing afternoon.

There are so many people. The bridge has two floors. The lower floor is mainly for traffic, and the upper floor has a large number of hikers and trams. Porto's Liberty Square is located in the center of the old city. It is the most prosperous area of the city. The architectural style is unique and charming. In the center of the square is a bronze statue of Don Pedro I on horseback. It is very interesting and a good place for street photography.

Bom Jesus do Monte is a notable sanctuary and pilgrimage site situated on a hill in the outskirts of Braga, a historic city in northern Portugal. Inscribed in 2019 as a UNESCO world heritage site, the sanctuary is completely accessible to the public and does not charge any entrance fee. The most iconic feature of the sanctuary is the monumental Baroque stairway leading to the Church of Bom Jesus do Monte. We took a taxi which send us to the church directly we so skipped climbing up the 577 steps on the 116-metre stairway. Instead we walked down the stairway after visiting the sanctuary complex. An alternative way to reach the church is by taking the water-powered funicular. The fee is 2 euros for a one-way journey and 3 euros for a round trip.
