The Royal Museum of Brazil is located in Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro. It was once the summer palace of Emperor Pedro II of Brazil and is now one of the important historical museums in Brazil. This neoclassical building was built in the 19th century and was designed by German engineer Julius Friedrich Kohler. It was later improved by several architects. Its granite porch, Carrara marble floor and exquisite stucco decoration show the architectural art of the imperial period. The museum houses about hundreds of thousands of artifacts, including royal jewels, Pedro II's crown, portraits of royal family members, furniture and precious documents, such as the portrait of Pedro I and the royal correspondence archive. The rooms in the palace, such as the concert hall, state room and emperor's study, have been preserved in their original appearance, recreating the court life of the Brazilian Empire in the 19th century. In addition, the museum also has a library of about 50,000 historical documents, covering imperial laws, travel notes and royal collections. The gardens around the palace are planted with rare plants from all over the world and are dotted with fountains and mythological statues. Today, the museum regularly hosts exhibitions, concerts and educational events, making it a must-see for anyone exploring Brazil's imperial history.Petropolis · 14.7 km from Itaipava

The Royal Museum has an outdoor venue, where academic conferences and forums are sometimes held. However, there seems to be none during the epidemic. There is also a very nice bar nearby that is worth a drink. It is a great experience!

Christ the Redeemer, standing atop Mount Corcovado in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is one of the world’s most iconic landmarks. This 30-meter-tall statue of Jesus Christ, with arms outstretched over the city, symbolizes peace and faith. Completed in 1931, it’s made of reinforced concrete and soapstone, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Rio’s beaches, mountains, and the Sugarloaf. Reached by train or hiking trail through Tijuca National Park, the journey itself is scenic and memorable. At sunrise or sunset, the statue glows against the sky, creating a truly spiritual and awe-inspiring experience—an unmissable highlight for any traveler to Brazil.
