Silfra

Silfrais located in Thingvellir National Park, Iceland, and is a water-filled fissure torn open at the boundary between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates. Formed in 1789, the two plates are still slowly drifting apart at a rate of approx. 2 cm per year, making it one of the few places in the world where you can snorkel or dive between two tectonic plates. The water in the fissure comes from the Langjokull Glacier, located tens of km away. The meltwater seeps into porous volcanic rock layers and, after years of natural filtration, emerges from underground. It is exceptionally clear, with underwater visibility exceeding 100 m. The blue and green hues of the water constantly shift with depth and light, and when sunlight refracts, it can even cast a rainbow on the bottom of the fissure. The water temperature here remains at approx. 2–4°C year-round. Because the water is constantly flowing underground, it does not freeze, allowing for diving and snorkeling experiences all year round.

Blue Ice Cave

The Blue Ice Cave is a natural ice cave that forms under Iceland's Vatnajökull Glacier every winter, serving as a unique and rare natural view during the Icelandic winter. The color and shape of the ice cave are ever-changing. Not only does the shape differ from year to year, but even within a single day, it can display varying shades of blue depending on the weather and light, making every cave one-of-a-kind. This mysterious blue color comes from the ice layer's special filtering and reflection of light: the denser the ice, the more thoroughly it absorbs red light, resulting in a deeper and purer blue. Sunlight refracts through the ice into the cave, illuminating the interior with a dreamlike, blue-purple view.

Skógafoss

Skógafoss is located on the south coast of Iceland. The Skógá River cascades down from the top of a cliff approx. 60 m high and 25 m wide, forming an almost continuous curtain of water. This cliff is a remnant of Iceland's ancient coastline—as the coastline has retreated southward over thousands of years, the former coastal cliff was left inland, and the waterfall now plunges directly from the edge of this cliff. The area in front of the waterfall is filled with mist year-round, and on sunny days, you can often see a single or even a double rainbow; if you walk to the base of the waterfall, you will get soaked by the mist. On the east side of the waterfall, there is a zigzagging staircase trail leading to the top of the cliff, where you can overlook the entire waterfall and the distant south coast plains. There is also an ancient Norse legend about this waterfall: it is said that in the early days, someone hid a chest of gold treasure behind the waterfall. After rumors of the treasure spread, treasure hunters came in an endless stream, and later, someone actually found the ring of the chest here. This ring is now kept in the nearby Skógar Museum, and the legend of the treasure has been passed down to this day, becoming part of the waterfall's unique cultural charm.

Hallgrimskirkja

Hallgrimskirkja sits on a hill in the capital of Iceland and is named after the 17th-century Icelandic poet and clergyman Hallgrímur Pétursson. The church was designed by Icelandic architect Guðjón Samúelsson, with a design inspired by the natural forms of Iceland's basalt columns, featuring hexagonal pillars reaching upward. The tapering wings on both sides of the tower resemble a giant pipe organ standing on the city skyline when viewed from a distance. Construction began in 1945 and was completed in 1986, spanning over 40 years. The tower is approx. 73m high and is a prominent landmark on the Reykjavik skyline. Visitors can take an elevator to the observation deck at the top of the tower to overlook the city's colorful rooftops and the bay and mountains in the distance. The interior of the church is towering and minimalist, with a large pipe organ featuring over 5,000 pipes spanning above the entrance. It is one of the largest pipe organs in Iceland, making the church an important music venue in Reykjavik that regularly hosts organ concerts.

Vatnajökull National Park

Route 1is Iceland's national main road, also known as the Ring Road because it circles the entire island. Completed in 1974, it has a total length of over 1,300 km and connects major towns such as the capital, Reykjavik, and the Capital of the North, Akureyri. It also connects most natural scenic spots, excluding the Westfjords and Snæfellsnes, making it a classic route for a self-drive tour around the island. Most sections of this road are two-way paved roads with good road conditions. Summer days are long, making it suitable for first-time visitors to plan an itinerary of about one week around the island. In winter, there is a chance to encounter the aurora along the way, but be aware of potential temporary road closures due to icy and snowy weather.
