Didn’t think I’d enjoy this as much as I did. Super engaging, funny, and informative guide Michal made it even more enjoyable. Incredible sculptures carved out of salt. Very cool place. Recommend this trip.

Auschwitz- Birkenau was as heart rending and horrifying as expected, after all, I’ve seen enough newsreels and videos to know what happened. I even recognised much of what I saw. Not a trip for the faint hearted or those who are less mobile as a lot of walking is involved. As for me, I had to see for myself, glad I did. On a practical note, the presentation and organisation was faultless. Go, but you already know what you’re going to get. The Wieliczka Salt Mine was a wonder of technical achievement, hewn out of natural salt and carved out beautifully. Big problem if you have bad knees as you go down steps to a depth of 135m and do a lot of walking on top of that before ascending by lift . 17,000 steps that day. Could you cope?

This full day excursion allowed us to experience two UNESCO World Heritage sites in one day. The Wieliczka Salt Mine was a fascinating look into the history of an importance of the mine and the Cathedral was an amazing feat of engineering. While the Auschwitz-Birkenau portion tour was an eye opening heart wrenching look into one of the most horrific events in humanity. Touring the camps will haunt me forever, yet it is important we never forget. What made our tour even more memorable was our tour driver, Hubert. Not only was he one of the most personable drivers I've ever had, he enjoyed teaching me a few Polish phrases. I would definitely take another tour if we could have Hubert again.


