I booked with Amazing Arctic Tours for 2 primary reasons: 1) it offered small group tour in minivan, which is able to reach out of the way places that large tour buses cannot, thus improving the likelihood of seeing the Aurora. 2) it was a better value than other small group tours. Many others were $300-$600/person, likely because they include a driver and guide that provide a lot of commentary, and a fancier minivan. We were happy with fewer frills - older Ford mini-van with broken armrest and front seat that was converted into 2 very tiny seats. And we were happy with our driver/guide, Monsoor. Significant cloud cover the night of our tour meant we would have to drive 2-3 hours, into Finland. Monsoor was not daunted and 1-2 hours into trip he spotted the Aurora. We were underwhelmed as we could only see what looked like rows of clouds to the naked eye but photos revealed the colors of the Aurora. Four hours into trip, we accepted that we would not cross the Aurora off our bucket list since we had not viewed its beautiful colors with the naked eye but we were wrong. Thanks to Monsoor, who kept driving into Finland, down sparse roads, we found the beautiful Aurora. Aside from a couple campers, we were the only people there, next to a lake, with the Aurora dancing all around! We were able to cross the Aurora off our bucket list. Monsoor patiently took many photos of us with the Aurora dancing in the background so we can continue to look back on this amazing experience. Many thanks Monsoor.

It was a beautiful and unforgettable night! The drive was smooth, and we had a wonderful guide, Mikaela (hope I got the spelling right). Check-in at the Northern Shots Tours office was quick and easy, and we departed right on time at 7pm. The bus ride was very comfortable, with our guide — who’s also a professional photographer — giving helpful explanations along the way. He shared what to expect during the tour, explained the itinerary clearly, and even guided us on how to adjust our phone camera settings to capture the Northern Lights. His light humour and friendly personality made the journey even more enjoyable. Overall, it was a well-organized and memorable experience that I would highly recommend!
