Wild Encounters at Yala National Park 🌅🐘🦌 Wake up early for a Yala safari, where Sri Lanka’s wild heart beats at sunrise! Adventure awaits as you glide through misty landscapes, spotting elephants, deer, buffaloes, and—if luck’s on your side—a stealthy leopard. 🗺️ Recommended Route: Start your game drive around dawn (safaris usually begin between 5:30–6:00 AM), which is the golden hour for wildlife and dreamy photos. Head straight to Blocks 1 and 2 for maximum sightings, as animals are most active here. 📸 Insta-worthy Angles: Snap the sunrise as it paints the park’s grasslands gold, frame elephants against the shimmering waterholes, and aim for that elusive leopard shot by keeping your camera ready at bends and rocky outcrops. 🎯 Must-do Experiences: – Join a guided safari tour (jeep required) for best access – Look out for the “big four” (elephant, buffalo, deer, leopard) – Pause at Patanangala beach for a unique landscape photo

Our morning safari was an awesome experience from start to end. We expected to see some wildlife but definitely not seeing almost all the wildlife in this national park. Elephants, monkeys, tons of birds, mammals, sloth bear, wild cat, reptiles... Our guide Udayanga was really professional, explaining and naming everything we saw, driving smoothly and safely, leading us away from crowded roads very fast. He is also a very good human, passionate about the wildlife and respectful. We saw a lot of crazy other tours driving people around without any concern of the surrounding and the wildlife, ready to do everything to get them a good picture. But at the end with the patience and perfect behaviour of Udayanga we saw exactly the same, everytime in a good spot and in a more peaceful way. ස්තූතියි 🙏

This was probably one of the best experiences of my life! Our driver Madu was incredibly knowledgeable about the animals and wildlife and made the day enjoyable. We were really lucky to see elephants, 3 leopards and even a sloth bear and a lot of this was down to Madu and a little bit of luck!

There were three of us. We really liked it. We contacted them and found out where to pick us up. We were picked up from our hotel at exactly 5 a.m. near the park, not quite along the way, there were two more visitors being picked up. We arrived at the park at about 6:15 a.m., we weren’t the first, we stood in line to see the leopard for about 40 minutes. And we were lucky! The leopard woke up right in front of us and ran off the cliff :) and there were about 30 more cars behind us. Then we saw another leopard, but in the branches of a tree and not completely, only an image and a paw. Our guide found this leopard in the tree!! And then cars started arriving near this tree. Keep in mind that to see the leopard, you need to arrive at 6 a.m. Many people don’t see leopards on this excursion. We also saw many birds (peacocks, a large owl, and various smaller ones like kingfishers) and animals (mongoose, buffalo, and deer) in the park. Near the park entrance, we saw elephants and a large crocodile. We paid an additional 13,000 rupees for entry, paid by the organizer, and the guide bought the tickets themselves. Our guide's name is Vishva. The best guide! Thank you!

What a fantastic guide! We spotted everyone! Leopards, elephants, crocodiles, all kinds of birds—it was absolutely beautiful and incredible! Our guide also brought us an incredibly delicious Sri Lankan lunch. We thought his wife had cooked it. After that lunch, I started ordering Sri Lankan coconut pancakes every day in Sri Lanka!
