We had a wonderful time on the Forgotten World railcart adventure yesterday. The weather was a bit cloudy and drizzly, but despite that the activity went on just fine and we had the full adventure all the way to Whangamomona (we booked the Republic package). The views on the track are stunning and it is such a unique experience to seeing the untouched countryside from the perspective of the railway. Plus, we got to drive the railcart, which was quite fun (even though you don't really need to steer, just accelerate and decelerate 😄). We had a slight hiccup in the middle where our cart broke down and we had to get towed for a while by another cart, but that kind of made the experience even more unique and interesting for us! (they asked us if we wanted a refund due to this but we declined because we still had a lot of fun and got most of the experience anyway). The rest of the organization was great as well, food was good, the guides were wonderful, all in all a fantastic experience!

The shuttle was very well organized, especially considering that there had been a fire in the national park a few days prior, and it only reopened on the day of our booked transfer. We were kept well-informed and regularly updated by the operator about the current situation and available options. Ultimately, the early transfer allowed us to participate in the opening ceremony. It was an unforgettable and special experience, particularly starting the trail accompanied by Maori singing. And hopefully, it will remain a unique experience.

The views were impressive and well worth the trek. Highly recommend! Would have appreciated a little more signage to let me know the distance to the end.
