Reviews: 1-day tour to Yehliu, Jiufen, Shifen Waterfall & Shifen Old Street with shared transfer - Departing from Taipei

Yehliu was our first stop. I initially thought it would just be about seeing rocks, but seeing the Queen's Head rock formation firsthand left me awestruck by nature's artistry. Mushroom-shaped rocks dotted the sea-eroded platform, the sea breeze salty and the waves roaring. Standing on the viewing platform, I suddenly understood that these strange rocks were sculpted by the sea and wind over millions of years—human time is but a blink of an eye in geological time. The atmosphere in Shifen was completely different. The railway tracks ran right through the center of the old street, trains slowly passing by, and vendors hawked sky lanterns on both sides. We wrote our wishes on the lanterns and watched them sway and rise into the twilight of the mountain town. The grandeur of Shifen Waterfall was another kind of awe-inspiring experience; the thunderous roar and the spray instantly transported us away from the hustle and bustle of the world. Arriving at Jiufen Old Street after nightfall, red lanterns illuminated the stone steps. The chewy taro balls, the aroma of grass jelly, the nostalgic posters of the Shengping Theater… it was like a time capsule, preserving the warmth of a bygone era. Looking out from the observation deck, the night view where the mountains meet the sea shimmers like a galaxy. I couldn't help but wonder if the gold miners of a century ago had also viewed this nightscape from the same vantage point. A day's reflections: Yehliu inspires humility towards nature, Shifen inspires hope, and Jiufen allows one to reflect on the past. Three places, three different senses of time—the immensity of geology, the fleeting nature of sky lanterns, and the centuries-old history of the old streets. As the car drove away from the mountain town, and the lights outside the window faded into the distance, I thought that the meaning of travel might not just be about seeing the scenery, but about rediscovering one's own insignificance and preciousness within that scenery. This route is perfect for travelers who love nature and a nostalgic atmosphere. I recommend visiting Yehliu in the morning to avoid the crowds, taking the Pingxi Line train to Shifen in the afternoon, and then heading to Jiufen in the evening to enjoy the night view—this will be a journey that recharges both body and mind.
