Our guide. Nelson. Was fantastic. The day was filled with great experiences at the miliseum, metro. And markets. The local people were charming as always and we finished the day tired but enriched by every moment and experience. Our guide was better than great.

Exploring a city by bike is simply the best way—you’re closer to everything and get a better feel for the place. So off we went on our bicycles in Guangzhou. We booked our tour with Cycle Canton—special thanks to Brem for the great organization and support in finding the “right” Happy Monk! :-) Nicole greeted us on-site, and soon afterward, our fellow riders joined. The 13 km tour led us crisscrossing through Guangzhou. Sometimes—at least it felt that way—we were almost cycling through residents' kitchens in the tiny alleyways of the old town, then shortly afterward alongside the Pearl River with views of the city’s modern side. Nicole quite literally opened doors for us! At the market, she introduced us to Vietnamese cuisine and even let us sample some delicious bites. Later in the park, she initiated us into the secrets of Jianzi, a game where a feathered shuttlecock is skillfully juggled using feet and other parts of the body—no hands allowed! We ended up extending the planned 4 hours a bit :-) ... which alone shows how much fun we had on the tour. THANK YOU, Nicole, THANK YOU, Brem! We highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to look a little deeper behind the scenes of this vibrant metropolis!
