Reviews: Mike's Neuschwanstein & Linderhof Private Tour from Munich

Our family (parents, grandma and 11 year old twins) spent the day with Alex yesterday on the full day tour from Munich. He did a great job customizing the day to keep the kids interested and engaged, with ways to beat the extreme heat. It would be difficult to visit all the places we went without all Alex’s inside knowledge and experience. He was so personable and you can tell he loves his job. We are so grateful we found this tour. It was a great way to get to know this area of Bavaria. We thought it may be helpful to hear directly from the kids about their experience, in their own words. :-) From an 11 year old boy: I really liked this tour because we went to a big castle called Neuschwanstein, and we got a bunch of great photos. We walked across the bridge by Neuschwanstein and then Alex told us all these things about the history of it and the guy (Ludwig II) who had it built. I really liked driving around and seeing the scenery and we stopped a lot of small villages and went to see a very pretty church. We went on a zip line by castle ruins and it was so fun because you could race someone else on the way down. We went swimming in a lake, which was really cold and refreshing because it was really hot and then we went on an Alpine coaster, which was really fun because we could go really fast. I think Alex did a great job of being a good tour guide. I liked driving 111 mph on the autobahn - that was really fun. I give Alex 5 stars for a great day! From an 11 year old girl: Our tour was an amazing adventure and I am so glad Alex was our tour guide. We went to Neuschwanstein Castle, which the Disney castle was fashioned after. Alex told us all about it in the car. By the time we got there we were practically experts about King Ludwig II, who built the castle. It was beautiful inside, and I could see all the inspiration for the Disney movies. We were amazed and so glad Alex told us all his tips and info. After that, we went to a zip line that was super cool. Alex told us about so many historic things in the car ride to the next places. The views were really beautiful on our drive. After that, he took us to a lake to cool us off and it helped a lot. It was so refreshing and the water was clear and beautiful. As an added bonus, it started raining and it was really cool to see all of the raindrops falling on the lake, especially since we were at eye level to witness it. Alex showed us many places he had previously found by accident and they were surprisingly beautiful. He also showed us many great places to eat. Finally, went on an Alpine coaster, which was super fun and we could go really fast. We got to the coaster a little after closing time, but Alex ran up (with bare feet) to the desk that had tickets. Since he knew the people, and was so kind to run up and get us tickets, we could do it because of him. I learned so much from Alex and it was a super fun tour.

The location was great. Views were amazing. One thing should be clarified. The restaurant where lunch is picked up from is at the first stop on the cable car. Please do not attempt to drive to the “meeting place” identified on the map. There is only a private road. Once you travel to the first stop on the cable cars (Seegruhben), get out of the cable car and pick up your lunch backpack. Then either hike or take the next cable car to the Top of Innsbruck.
